Zero Escape: Phalla's Last Reward
The man known as
Infinity was known by very few. By day, he just another local judge. By night, however, he was a part of a secret society known as The Phalla Illuminati. The Illuminati was known only to those of high class or socioeconomic standing. Knowing the politics, money and power behind the legal scene, they sometimes decided to take the law into their own hands. Citing "Game Theory", they were able to hide evidence, close up any and all case files and all other information being locked down. These instances typically resulted in "cleaning up the gene pool" per their own words.
Recently, the Illuminati had a number of individuals being considered for initiation. They had decided to put them through a life or death situation in order to determine if they are fit to join the group. Having to also find very unwilling players, the group scoured through their records of individuals who have in one way, shape or form eluded their idea of Justice. They settled on individuals who have caused some kind of pain to their members unknowingly.
Infinity had recently finalized the list of initiates and unwilling participants in the path to becoming an Illuminati, and sent this out to the group. The group was tasked with bringing all of the players to a single, remote compound in which the trial would begin. The initiates will have to overcome overwhelming odds by using their wits and collective information to overcome a numerical disadvantage from the others.
So the Illuminati located each individual on the list and transported them, without their knowledge or permission, to the location of the trial. It would only be a short matter of time before they all woke up and the trial could begin. Everything was in place and their judgement would begin shortly....
This is a mafia-ish game where the known information is as follows:
1) There's an uninformed majority (village).
2) There's an informed minority (mafia).
3) There will be lots of voting, but there will not be a single red vote that everyone participates in each day. This will be explained more below.
4) There are a few individual choices each player can make each day. This will also be explained more along with number 3.
5) There are no village specials.
6) The mafia are pretty standard with 1 kill a night (for a 20 player game, can be adjusted accordingly).
7) There is a time limit. The time limit will be determined partway through the game.
8) The first few 24 hour days will be days 1 and 1.5, 2 and 2.5 for story flavor.
9) The players during these first few longer "days" will have the chance to choose their path, which can affect what kind of information and tools they can obtain.
10) When divided into smaller groups, I will ask for communications to be limited to those in your group. This will apply to the mafia as well.
11) There will be a Day 0, which sets up more information on the game for the players and provides some thematic method of joining the game.
12) There are no hidden factions or win conditions.
13) Villager win condition: Eliminate the mafia.
14) Mafia win conditions: Outnumber the villagers or survive until the end.
15) The dead are not identified beyond name. The information on their alignment is available to individuals who look for it.
16) Some information regarding the game shows up a little bit into the game.
17) There are no spoilers pertaining to 999 or Zero Escape.
Further Explanation on game mechanics:
The game consists of the group as a whole choosing rooms to enter. In each room, there are different areas each individual player can choose to enter, where the individuals in each area become a small group. The areas are clearly outlined to their function (Vigilante and Seer as examples, others to be explained upon game start). Each small area group votes on a target for the action that night. It is known who goes into what area by all, the results are known by all after the day ends (Example: Ardor got 4 votes, MrBlarney got 2 votes, Infidel got 1 vote). In each small area, I request no communication to anyone outside of that small area during the voting process, this includes both village and mafia.
For the first few days, there will be emerging information about the game, mechanics and both village and mafia. Each full day will be broken up a bit for a slower pace (Day 1, Day 1.5). With the partial voting records and who chooses what room available at all times in the narrations, the expectation is that the villagers must help deduce the mafia through the information available. There will be a fair amount of that available and more information on how to better accomplish this will be available in the first day or two.

Sign Up to play! Also, while I can fill in the blanks, for kicks, please let me know what horrible things you did to the Illuminati members, this information can be discovered throughout the game and has no bearing on your role. It could be anything from kicking the neighbor's dog, flipping of a box of their kittens to putting their car on blocks or stealing their tax returns. Anything the imagination will provide is fine!
The nights end at 8pm CST. The game is balanced for around 20 players, that can be changed depending on how much interest there is.

Win conditions: Escape Phalla Zero and eliminate the Illuminati Initiates.
You all must move together.
Voting records, without knowing who voted for whom, will be shown after small room voting sessions.
There were 4 Illuminati Initiates at the start of the game.
You have escape on the 9th day. (The time limit in the game is 9 days).
The Code (all zeroes) will bypass a single keypad code, once in this game.
The game ends in favor of the Innocents when the Illuminati Initiates are all dead and this is announced.
Order of Operations: Records Results -> Justice Results -> Hidden Kills -> Illuminati Initiates Kill.
Tie Votes will treat the first target to get to the tied number as the target. (Example, if Ardor and Infidel both have 3 votes, whoever had 3 votes FIRST, will win the vote.)
The Illuminati Initiates select one member to commit the kill each night. It doesn't matter where their target is that day.
The Illuminati Initiates are able to tamper with clues (remove, not destroy) on the identity of dead players in a room.

Point 17 in the OP, no spoilers! At least from me. I've made no connections between the story or characters of either game and this one. So no worries!
I got stuck on the first puzzle in 999 for longer than i care to admit.

If the mafia are always divided into groups each day by area, is there any utility in a whole mafia proboard? That is, is there any point at which a mafia could post in such?
The mafia are not always divided into groups. It is a choice they make, as do all other individual players. The communication limitations are not always in effect each "day".
More will be explained on game start and in the first few days.

The OP was simply meant to give an idea of what to expect from the game in general terms. The specifics will be made available very early in the game.
