Am I insane or are gunships only killable with anti-tank weapons?
they are as armored as dropships are as far as I can tell
Can you kill a regular dropship with an AC? 2 shots to an engine of a gunship drops them. And they don't spawn neeeaarly as fast as Shriekers, so having to hellbomb the facility feels much less bad. Shriekers spawn way too damn fast.

gunships only have armour 4 on their thrusters i think, so amr /ac/laser cannon will get em
I've seen ac sentries take out dropships eventually. May be more accurate to say dropships and gunships similar armor but dropships have more HP.

ac turret is above pen 4, it's like 2x the size of the man-portable ac, its big boi and hits/pens harder

Yeah, all the turrets seem to have higher penetration than whatever is equivalent or near-equivalent for Helldivers to carry. The infantry AC only punches out Hulks with weakpoint hits (or blows off limbs), the turret vision will clobber them wherever it hits.
The problem with AC turrets vs dropships is that the AC sentry does not traverse quickly so if a dropship flies over and past the turret to come to a stop, the dropship will likely fly off before the sentry can track it. Even worse, it will keep trying to track it out of range and ignore ground troops in the meantime, so you can a good 10-20 seconds of the sentry actually doing fuck-all while it tries to point at a target it should ignore.
The rocket turret should swat those things down pretty fast if it will prioritize them it likes to go after big bois so not sure what it will do with fliers but it does tend to pot shot at drop ships so I assume it works.
I'll have to get the rocket turret out of storage then. I've typically avoided it due to the team hazard but we'll see if it gets better (less murdery) traction with aerial targets.

You don't have to hellbomb shrieker nests. Each tower takes 2-3 AT shots (EAT/RR/etc) or ~9-10 autocannon shots. And if you engage outside of 200 meters the spawns will never agro. Shriekers are much less scary now that their bodies can't kill bile titans (or players) and they don't call in bug holes, so every shrieker attack isn't a mess of spawns now.
Now that I think about it, the rocket turret might be slightly less lethal to your teammates with the explosive changes.
Grenade launcher, too.
Hilariously, I think they may have bugged rockets in the other direction. I ate a trooper rocket to the face, got ragdolled and everything from the direct hit...

I wear explosive resist Armor into bots. And iirc, the 50/50 armour leaves you at 1 HP. Which would be why it blocks the bleed out state.

Pfft, you don't need fancy PPE when you could bring more ordnance. Everyone should bring 380 +120 + walking barrage, with a few 500kg party favors at a minimum for maximum liberty.
I’ve started to become accustomed to being in the danger zone of a 380. I’ve been doing a lot of Bots in heavy armor with the fortified trait, so unless it’s a direct hit I’ll just get back up and brush it off.
