Locking Backs

I just put a locking back on one of my Pinnys and now it completely refuses to come off. Any ideas?

These things work like Chinese handcuffs. I've had some issues, but never getting them completely stuck. Laying the pin face down (preferably on cloth or a thin towel), press down on points (a) and (b) with equal pressure, while simultaneously pulling up on (c) and (d). I usually have to use my thumb and index finger to hold down the pin and apply pressure to (a) and (b), then use my fingernails to lift up on (c) and (d). Barring that, if I still couldn't get the thing off, I'll probably grab a dremel and cut the top off the locking back if it was truly stuck.

Does the spring puller part pull back at all? If not I would carefully try to use a small needle nose pliers as a spreader (put it in closed, then try to open it with your fingers) between the two parts of the back (NOT between that back and the pin, that would likely rip the post right off).

Push down (toward the pin) while pinching the back to lift the moveable part. Once it moves pull the back off.

may have to get a dremel.. the top part is stuck on an angle and the entire thing just spins on the post.

I did have a locking bad get stuck on my 15th Anniv. pin from this weekend actually, turns out the spring post (C and D in the diagram above) got pushed way down by my bag that I had it on. After my brute manly strength managed to pull it out it came off just fine. Though if yours is crooked and wonky then something else is probably stuck.

Not sure if you can see the problem, but it's there and actually I noticed 2 other of the pack of 5 I got from PAX East are also defective. So I guess it's a bad print run...

SUCCESS!!! I grabbed a jewelry screwdriver set, pushed the flat end into the stuck part and it popped right off.
