    giving myself the gift of watching cesaro/cena from raw about a year ago

    If I could whisper one thing to mcmahon, something quick and simple, it'd be cesaro as reigns first feud as champion. cesaro doesn't have to win or anything but it gives reigns someone amazing to work with, someone who smarks will enjoy but also a way for mcmahon to feel like he's rubbing it in our faces if he wants.

    it's win win win win win!

    no chance of cesaro showing up reigns on the mic either

    So, I'm going to take inspiration from Facetious' NXT notes and Kale's Total Divas recaps watch and write about all of the NJPW Cup. First up we have the openers and the first match which pits literal samurai Hirooki Goto against figurative ape man Togi Makabe.
    The show opens with Liger/Kushida/Jay White vs Tiger Mask/Taguchi/Dorada. I'm a little sad that this is where Liger has ended up. At one point Taguchi hits a rear view off the top rope. I'm beginning to see why people hat that Alex Navarro looking motherfucker. Did Dorada just get a pin with a falcon arrow? Somebody call Excalibur! It's a decent opener and there are handshakes all around followed by a brief promo by Liger.

    Later Kojima and Yohei Komatsu take on Yuji Nagata and Sho Tanaka. Solid taggery. Blue Justice is in full effect as Nagata beats the generic out of the young boy. Hot tag leads to a great corner chop sell by Nagata. Kojima and Komatsu get the win off a single leg crab submission by one young boy on another. The story here was all about the rookies showing the veterans they can go so it makes sense to give Komatsu the win here.

    Makabe (KING KONGU!)vs Goto:

    -The crowd chants for Makabe before the match starts.
    -Shortcut to the outside after some quick lockups to start. This is not a good sign.
    -Goto brings the gorilla man back inside for some leg submissions and some stiff kicks. It only seems to be pissing him off.
    -Makabe wins a punching exchange and throws Goto into the corner for a business exposing 10 punch and a snap suplex.
    -A series of clotheslines knocks neither man down but does set off some car alarms in the parking lot before Makabe gets the upperhand.
    -Makabe climbs to the top rope, presumably to swat biplanes. Goto catches him and drops the back of his head onto his knee.
    -Polish hammer from Makabe followed by a clothesline to the back of Goto's head.
    -Fuck, Makabe is going for a spider suplex. I love that move.
    -Makabe gets knocked back into the tree of woe. Draping neckbreaker from Goto for a 2 count.
    -Crowd's chanting for Makabe again, giving him the power to hit a GERMAAAAAAAAAANAAAAA for a close 2.
    -Drop toe hold from Goto gets rolled into a weird cross legged small package for the win. Solid match but certainly not going to be the best of the night.

    I went and watched a local promo last night, Smash Wrestling

    It took place in a community center smaller than my old school gymnasium

    Some of the performers really tried to sell it but man what a weird experience

    I still think several Mania's have had worse builds but yeah, the dissonance involved in most of the top feuds this year has led to a lackluster at best overall build.

    I'm sure the talent will come through at the actual event though.

    you do not have to qualify that manias before have had worse builds! This mania has had a bad build. you don't have to try and make it look better because other ones have been "worse". It still isn't good this year

    I still said the build this year was bad. I just don't agree it's the worst ever.

    For me though, the worst ever Mania build is probably... 29. If only for the lackluster card, not so much the TV product at the time although it certainly wasn't great either.

    Like Mania 11 even with it being the worst Mania had intrigue with LT wrestling Bigelow and Shawn getting his first WWE Title opportunity. 29 had two rematches as its top attractions which featured Hunter beating Brock and Cena getting the title again.
