As you know from the MK9, most everyone is dead. Fortunately, this is a game full of necromancers and evil magic, so death is nothing but an inconvenience.

Scorpion (dead spirit. Harpoons enemies. On fire)
Sub-Zero (polar opposite of Scorpion (pun intended))
Ermac (started as a joke character, became a playable character with a somewhat intense backstory)
Johnny Cage (the perfect representation of Mortal Kombat)
Raiden (Lightening God. Went a little crazy in the last game)
Kano (mercenary doucebag. May or may not be Australian)
you have some brand new characters
D'Vorah (bug lady)
Cassie Cage (daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade)
Kotal Khan (new leader of Outworld)
Ferra/Torr (large giant and a master blaster type character on his back)
Erron Black (motherfucking cowboy)
and you have some guest characters
Jason Voorhees (hates teens and loves killing)
Predator (killed Carl Weathers and now wants a shot at Jax)
OH AND TREMOR AND TANYA SHOW UP TOO ARE YOU HAPPY NOW CHINCY?!
MKX introduces two new concepts: variations and factions
Variations:
Each fighter has three different variations, each featuring a different set of moves they can use during the fight. For example, the character Scorpion features a "Ninjutsu" variation in which he wields dual swords, a "Hellfire" variation which relies more on fiery special moves, and an "Inferno" variation which allows him to summon hellspawn minions to aid him in the fight.
Faction Wars:
Players will have to choose one from the five factions (Black Dragon, the Brotherhood of Shadow, the Lin Kuei, Special Forces, and White Lotus) to align with and join a persistent online cross-platform competition with the others, winning points for their faction to contribute in the conflict between them, ranking up personally, and earning special rewards such as faction-specific finishing moves if the player's faction win at the end of any given week.
Oh and there is a comic out that is pretty good that ties the events from MK9 to MKX:

Anyway this is my most anticipated game of the year and its not close
I'm so psyched
No worries. I kept seeing posts buried in the Superhero thread and thought I'd just make a thread for it, especially since we're going to get a ton more videos and info here in the next few weeks.
I'm watching the games right now so at half-time I'll try to add the rest of the characters and some more videos.

I guess its possible the character select screen they'be been showing us is not accurate to the final product though!
Smoke, cyrax, stryker, Kabal, and rain are on that list because:
"On March 19, a NetherRealm livestream revealed Kustom Kombat mode, including 5 modifiers hinting toward rumored characters: Stryker Assists, Smoke Assists, Rain Bubbles, Kabal Blades, and Cyrax Bombs."
That doesn't mean those characters are in the game though
