Well they're kinda like hobbits but they're also kinda like fancy cats
Yeah but I'm asking why people like them
I wanted to play a small race and be strong at the same time
so I picked Orlan and a gave her lot of might; it's been one of the big consistencies during my attempts at finishing PoE1
it's kinda of a weird way to phrase that question, because why does anyone like any of the races, really? PoE tried enough newish things where I had to learn to love the setting, rather than start somewhere baseline for fantasy
I feel like I've gotten a lot of cultural background in all of the other races in Eora, either from having them as party members or talking to NPCs or whatever. That's why I'm fond of the boreal dwarves, and why I'm intrigued by the Vailians. And I feel like I haven't gotten that for Orlan, you know? They're maligned in the Dyrwood, sure, but that feels more like a reflection of Dyrwood culture than Orlan.

I like Xoti's character and arc a lot, but maaaan do her combat barks need to come less frequently
Meanwhile, I love her X-Men Animated Series Rogue combat barks, but I feel like her personal story was weirdly unfinished.
dang, that's disappointing to hear. I like her.
Maybe I missed something, or there's still more to come that's not her official quest or whatever. I haven't beaten the game, I just know that her quest is marked complete and it feels like it was really anticlimactic.
You know it's genuinely hard to decide between the ruthless capitalists, the ruthless imperialists, the strict hierarchical caste system locals, and the pirates.

orlans have a significant presence in eir glanfath, though (which isn't part of the Dyrwood!)
I probably heard a lot more about it since I played an orlan, but it's not exactly a secret or anything
Miss me? Find me on:

How many of the folks from PoE1 make it into 2 as party members?
A few of the folks I have with me seem like their stories would wrap up in this game, anyway (Kana especially).
Aloth, Pallegina, and Eder.
Other characters might make an appearance, I have met Maneha in a pub.
While I'm sad you couldn't recruit Maneha, if I was a party member in PoE1 and the Watcher came up to me and was like "ready for some more adventures??" I have to tell them thanks, but no thanks.

You'll also meet Kana Rua if you made the "right" choices in PoE1 if you take out the slavers of Crookspur. Also Kana is the sibling of a certain party member. She kinda hates his poetry
I feel like I've discussed that with several of my party members. What's your specific issue there?
Huh, maybe I just haven't hit that conversation yet, cause I'm pretty sure that I haven't seen it explained to any of the party members that weren't from PoE 1 yet.

I guess I also just don't see it as a big deal, personally.
Like, it's a big reveal in the first game, yeah, but it doesn't really change anything? I don't know, I'm not exactly champing at the bit to explain it to all my new friends.
My Watcher is kind of a dick who is sick to death of all these mystical beings blackmailing him into doing what they want
Early capital city spoilers, in the temple district
Just so frustrated with the condescension that Rymrgand gives when your teleport experiment goes wrong, though I do appreciate that you can call him out on it and he finds your ire hilarious

If you challenge him in that scene he will straight up murder you, fyi

Are you sure? I did and he didn't murder me. He backed down and I basically went "Ha I knew you weren't gonna do it."

Huh, maybe he murders you if you make certain choices.
I basically called him out for acting like a dick, he threatened to end me, and I took all the stoic options to stare him down. He laughed and backed down and when I called him out for it he acted amused and pretty much told me "say my name any time and come and have a go if you think you're hard enough"

Yeah, there's a like, "Do it, I fuckin' want to die anyways" option in there that he uhh, he goes for!
Okay so if you take one particularly dumb choice you'll die, but you can still sass him for the most part.

I love when games give me an option to do stuff like that, honestly.
Like, it was a little bit irritating replaying that section, but whatever, it was short enough and funny enough that it happened.
The first game also had a great version of that (late game spoilers)
In Eir Glanfath, when you need to gain the favor of a god in order to jump into the Burial Pit, you can still do the jump even if you don't have said favor and it will just kill you. There's a special ending card and everything.
I too love it when games give you the chance to totally screw yourself by doing something you obviously shouldn't do. There's another bit in the first game where if you kill a certain NPC it's an instant game over
I feel like I've discussed that with several of my party members. What's your specific issue there?

My headcanon on this
The new party members are, for all intents and purposes, co-workers. Y'all have a task you're working on together, but they haven't seen the shit you've seen. So I imagine telling one of my coworkers, "I met Jesus and Buddha and Allah and Vishnu and they were all just regular folks what fancied themselves up with some fancy tech. Wild, huh?" I imagine that claim would be met with some skepticism.
And in the world of PoE, especially - Eothas is a towering, glowing colossus wielding inscrutable and immense power. That would seem to run counter to "jumped-up kith," to most folks.
It's also like...for the average persons consideration what is the practical difference between that and "actual god"

I'm not sure practicality is relevant when discussing the divine, although perhaps it should be
I think a lot of people would see a difference between a god which has always existed or created itself, and one that was created by humans (or, in this case, kith)

I may well do that. I dunno, I’m playing on Easy so I don’t anticipate it being too hard, but yeah.
the floors get pretty fast towards the end, if you're at floor 7 then the bulk of it is over

Aloth, Eder, Pallegina. Other people appear in little vignettes, but only those three come back playable.
Edit: And now I've got this blowjob of a noble knocking on my door saying the keep is his
I mean technically he's right
but fuck that guy
I was looking into this:
Apparently the autosave is a big culprit.
If you disable it you roughly cut it in half
However, given what the Rauatai seem to be up to so far in this game maybe that's actually the right choice.
Like, yeah, Thaos the Stag is an able warrior and has aided me in many a battle
But sometimes I wish he was a big old tiger
