so has no one managed to figure out what the ring of betrothal is for

it has to have some actual use in the game, right

or is it just another pendant

If the description on the ring is to be believed.
You can propose to the women trying to/involuntarily giving birth great ones.

    Which should be:

    The Queen of the Vilebloods.
    Annalise
    Fake Iosefka

There's probably a condition or two that you have to fufill for the other two. Maybe get to a certain point in the game? Before a certain point in the game? Maybe having already eating an Umbilical Cord? Maybe after all three?

I dont understand the problem people have with Rom.
When i got there, I was kinda nervous since people had mentioned him as a Pain in the ass in vauge terms. However all I ended up doing was targetting whichever spider was most removed from the group, doing a side step on him, hit him once, which killed it, then back rolling. repeat until all spiders are dead, apply bolt paper to my cane, beat on rom until he teleports.

Second phase is kinda the same except you have the spells he casts. keep targetted on a spider. The magic he throws at you pretty much always starts falling where you are facing, for me it was to my right and slightly forward. when the first bolt hits, its following an assumed path based on the facing and direction you were in when the first bolt landed. dont run, just shift sidewise away from the spider you were locked onto, until the magic finishes, continue to kill the spiders. when all spiders are dead, run up, apply bolt paper and pimp cane him to death, watching for him to do that big splash thing with his tail, and backrolling out of its range then walking back up again to smack him more. I never got a third phase, but if you do, you should be able to just run up to rom and finish him ignoring the spiders.

    Ok look
I know how to beat Rom. I've done it before. I've watched videos of people doing it. I've read everything I could on the many different ways others have done it, because there are many ways of doing it, even ridiculously easy ways. Sometimes. Sometimes dodging left to right works. Sometimes running at him will make his meteors miss completely. Sometimes, you can just run up to him with every spider still alive and they don't do anything. However, sometimes the meteors have DS2 levels of tracking, which can be bad because, sometimes, he'll just keep spamming that attack, even when you're right next to him, which basically changes the rules of the fight. Sometimes the spiders are the smartest damn henchmen you'll ever see in a Souls game, and will just dog pile you if you go near Rom. Hell, sometimes Rom just teleports as soon as you land in the lake, so you start the fight with two waves of spiders while he's at full life
I don't like this fight because I don't like randomness in boss fight

If you want to cheese them, run out the door below and loop back around to the top via the other door. They'll eventually start splitting off one by one.

Actually I think that has been disproved, but don't have it to check myself.

As far as I know it does nothing at this point.

Ahhh! I almost had the One Reborn on my first try. So close! I wasn't expecting a boss yet, so I didn't have very many blood vials.

You mean that ring is real? I thought it was an April fools joke.
Where is this yarnham stone you mentioned?

So if you give the ring before the Rom fight, does that mean you have to kill your own child?

This is tied to your progression in the dungeons, not the item.

So after killing The One Reborn I've got 26 insight. Is that too much? Also this game has some really horrifying/terrific enemy designs. Those corpse boxes will haunt my dreams forever.

Man I've had 99 insight for ages, all I've got left to do is a couple chalice dungeons I think.

Speaking of, is there a real for sure place to snag a single ritual blood(4) or do I need to bugger around inside a Depth 3 dungeon hoping for one? The messengers are only selling (2).This material gathering horseshit is a real drag, I want to crawl through dungeons not fuck around trying to determine how to fulfill the requirements of dungeon crawling

Oh right I think having a lot of insight is bad when you encounter enemies that cause frenzy, the more insight you have the more vulnerable you are, those gross brain ladies pretty much instantly vaporise me

people play up a lot the impact that insight has on the game, but it's really not that much. It gives a couple enemies a few more attacks, makes you more vulnerable to frenzy, and makes a small very number of weird things show up, it really doesn't make the game much harder. The frenzy thing is annoying but manageable with armor/runes/sedatives

also if you're using the claws or the beast blood pellets, the scaling from beasthood is inversely proportional to your insight

beasthood is the equivalent of the Dark Souls 2 lighting engine fiasco. So therefore the next game will have an incredibly rich and well put together beasthood system.

Oh yeah I forgot about the whole beast hood thing, so what does happen if you manage to fill that meter up?

Absolutely nothing. Filling the meter up just progressively increases your damage done and damage taken. The higher your beasthood stat is and lower your insight, the bigger the bar, and the more potential damage boost you can build up to.

Apparently high insight increases how much the beast meter fills up with each attack, so for PvE you want less insight and for PvP you want more.

  • Bluedude152Bluedude152 Registered User regular
Your attack goes up and your defense goes down as the meter fills

    THats it

    p0a2ody6sqnt.jpg
  • HobnailHobnail Registered User regular
    Well bollocks to that then.

Man I wonder how much DLC is going to add, like I wonder if stuff like PvP and beasthood isn't supposed to be as vestigial as it is now
