For the first half of this tournament I thought we discovered 200cc Frantic mode. Shells bouncing everywhere, bullet bills zooming past me, stars on my tail. And lightning. Lots of lightning.
It was fun racing with the Sunday group again. I hope I get to do it again sometime.
I knew it would be a down night for me when I drove off the course 5 seconds into my first race for no reason. And with a room full of good players I was punished severely for the constant mistakes. My dreams will be filled with red shells tonight.
That was interesting switching gears from Mario Maker to that!
You were (and always have been) worthy opponents Kupi and Mr Blarney. Glad we had a small crowd given that GOTY material just released a couple days ago and was undoubtedly played by many instead.
I don't get my copy of Super Mario Maker until next week! I'll still make time to play Mario Kart as long as others are interested, though. This week was not so good for me... I think I was last of the three of us with most of the games played. I just kept on getting stuck behind the AI players and had no good way of catching back up.
Last night was probably the weirdest night of Mario Kart I can remember. Normally I finish right behind Cravipat, but I don't think that happened once. I either finished right ahead of him or more commonly, I was 5 slots behind. On one occasion I took 6 green shells in a row. I can see red, but green? How is that possible?

On the other hand, my high-speed gold-parts build did not work out nearly as well as last time I brought it out. Lots of misplays and CPU interference on my end this week. Seems like a lot of the races ended up with a bunch of us with one-bob-omb length of track between each racer; I just wasn't able to use my kart's strengths to get into first place.
Not sure what to think of today's races. A few good (even great) ones mixed in with a bunch of crap and frustration. I'll probably skip out on the next bob-ombs only race next time.

Overall, it took me a while to get myself in the rhythm, so by the time I was zoned in, I was already too far behind in the point standings. As it is, of the eighteen races played in today's tournament, I won six of them, against five each for Kupi and Rehab. Unfortunately, three of them came in the four races where not all of the participants were racing simultaneously, and two of them were after I had finished the sixteen races that counted towards my tournament score. Lots of really good races today!
Shells Only seems preternaturally obsessed with giving the upper places Coins instead of useful items, and since the guy in second place still has a shot at getting a Red Shell, that means that first place is super fucking volatile, even more so than in normal item settings.
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.
Thanks for another round of Wednesday night races. There were only 3 other people in my original regional room so I jumped in worldwide. It was nice to have a full room all night
