Finding a dead PC component

My friend has a PC, which something inside has died. He's convinced it's the video card, because when he starts the PC, it lights up, the fans kick in, but nothing appears on screen.

Any way he can do better diagnostics? Motherboards not giving him any error tones.

Remove the graphics card and try turning the computer on.

Does hitting capslock turn on and off the capslock light once the computer is up and running? If it does respond, it's probably the gpu, if it doesn't then it's probably not.

After speaking with him further, he's already decided the PC is a goner and has ripped it apart for bits he wants to salvage. So I guess this thread can be closed.
