The second is a Ywing cockpit, with X-wing wings, and some other turrets added on the sides?
The last one would look a lot better if they used another TIE panel rather than the x-wing wing.

Looks like the second is a ywing cockpit, xwing wings, and 2 b-wing weapon wings.

That is the whole point of uglies... They are cobbled together from scrap. The isdea is that they didn't have a second s foil or a way yo even out the wings.

I wish we got more ships like those and that rad FFG mini Star Destroyer thing in the official stuff. I haven't been feeling most of the designs from Rebels or Ep VII so far.

Yes, I understand the concept. However they are also toys/models and designed to be visually appealing, thus saying the second panel would make it look cooler.
That's why the Tye-wing works, it uses both of the y-wing's engines with the tie cockpit. It would look stupid with one y-wing engine and a z-95 wing.
Is the lego's one supposed to be a b-wing pod on a-wing chassis?

The the second one is definitely a y-wing cockpit, but all the wings come from b-wings. Two primary wings with the big weapon pod at the end, and 4 s-foils with a single laser each.
Not sure what the main fuselage is though. Maybe from a Y-wing with the neck shortened, but the engine cones I'm pretty sure are from a b-wing model.

I think the last one would look better if the TIE panel and X-wing wing were mounted horizontally rather than vertically. May just be me though.
The Lego one looks more like a b-wing with all the wings removed. Definitely a b-wing engine pod there with some extra bits thrown on. Those might be the engines from an a-wing set though.
Apparently some people are up in arms that the new book, Aftermath, has gay characters in it.
Writer Chuck Wending has this to say about it.
And if you’re upset because I put gay characters and a gay protagonist in the book, I got nothing for you. Sorry, you squawking saurian — meteor’s coming. And it’s a fabulously gay Nyan Cat meteor with a rainbow trailing behind it and your mode of thought will be extinct. You’re not the Rebel Alliance. You’re not the good guys. You’re the fucking Empire, man. You’re the shitty, oppressive, totalitarian Empire. If you can imagine a world where Luke Skywalker would be irritated that there were gay people around him, you completely missed the point of Star Wars. It’s like trying to picture Jesus kicking lepers in the throat instead of curing them. Stop being the Empire. Join the Rebel Alliance. We have love and inclusion and great music and cute droids.

I'm really happy to see this embracing of equality in its media. Between that and the tweet about Captain Phasma, it really makes me think they know how much they can teach with their products.

EW published a preview awhile back. It's pretty bad. Some people in other places online were suggesting that Disney is intentionally trying to target the YA audience of readers who grew up with the Hunger Games and whatnot with these new post-Jedi books. I haven't read any of those other series, so I can't comment, but it's really light and overly stylized.
I don't read any Star Wars books after I tossed one overboard in a fit a rage when Chewbacca died and Kevin J Anderson's books
I never read it, but I assume you are talking about how he was crushed by a moon? That seems like literally the best way for Chewbacca to die, in battle and taking overwhelming force.
Really the last set of ships I knew about for X wing I thought were silly {the K-wing and Punisher Tie}
But with Imperial Assault I am curious will we get stuff from the new movie {probably} As I might get it since it looks like it would play on a card table which is one of my problems when I want to play board games {the others are trying to get somebody interested as sadly I think it's true I am a hipster about board games}
Imperial Assault has stuff in place in the rules that will allow it to have sets in earlier and later parts of the established timeline. The stuff in the base game is all meant to take place after a New Hope, but it has side missions that might be able to slide around the timeline, though I'm not sure. It's flexible, is what I'm saying, and I can't imagine that they would block themselves off from tie-ins to the new movies

Luke already exists as a pilot. I hope they don't add him as a T-70 pilot just because that would make things more complicated/confusing to play against.

"Red Ace" is probably just a super generic name that doesn't actually allude to a character
the new starter kit had "Blue Ace" and a bunch of similarly vague names for the Tie pilots, too
which is too bad because there have been some pretty good made up callsigns for that game, like Howlrunner and Redline, I guess they didn't get the go-ahead to start making up people?

Oh, agreed. They aren't going to name any of the pilots for Ep 7 other than Poe, because they don't want to spoil things.
But when I hear "Red Ace," I think Luke. And while I expect his character is the Jedi Master type in the new movie and he won't be engaging in theatrics in the air, it's just a funny image to picture him kicking ass.

Darth Vader can be either on the imperial shuttle or in a tie fighter and had different cards for each.
But the rules state they can't both be on the field at the same time.
But for the first issue of the big Force Awakens prequel thing pretty much nothing happened
It picks up at the end of RotJ and the celebration at Ewokland and
It ends with Han leading a squad of Rebel soldiers to clean up the Imperial hold outs left on the moon and finding a bunch of Imperial Intel saying that the war "isn't over yet."
Hopefully the rest of the miniseries picks up the pace

Yeah, and Luke already exists as a crew and a pilot as well.
It would just be confusing from a, "I'm playing Luke Skywalker and Poe Dameron", "Wait, which Luke? What's his ability? Oh crap I forgot that was T-70 Luke not T-65 Luke."
Although the new naming convention on the ep7 ships are pretty bad and confusing already. "Epsilon Ace, Epsilon Leader, Omega Ace, Omega Leader..."
seriously though the x-wing game's TIE callsigns are all so good and cheesy
Howlrunner, Backstabber, Night Beast, Whisper, Redline, Deathrain
Most of the callsigns used are characters who already existed in the fiction (some of them are even in the films, though of course they're nameless and faceless there).

hmm I thought everyone who had a callsign instead of a name was made up for the game, but I guess that's not the case?
The phantom and punisher tie pilots appear to have been made up for the game though

"All TIE series starfighters had two or more ion engine outlets, linked to a solar ionization reactor and solar array wings."

I think the heatsink explanation is because fans don't think the solar panels would be able to provide enough power. It is the canon answer though.
The last one would look a lot better if they used another TIE panel rather than the x-wing wing.

Not at all relating to gay characters, just to the quality of the book in general
So, par for the course for Star Wars books.

With 40% 1 Star reviews on Amazon it isn't looking good.
Yeah, the "angry at the death of the expanded universe" crowd and the "angry at the gays" crowd seem to have converged on this book.
Or maybe it's just not very good. The other new continuity novels have gotten pretty good reviews.
Like the book probably isn't that good but even terrible books don't usually get that kind of roasting
Armada is currently at 8% 1-star reviews, and that books sound like just
just the WORST
Humorously, the top of the line pilot is just called "Red Ace." I wonder if that's Luke?

Heard really good things about Shattered Empire though, it could have no dialogue and I would buy it if every page is like this:
