Hello
Without trying to be dramatic, it's probably appropriate to put a trigger warning here for those who are going through the grief process.
I'm planning on submitting a panel on grief and gaming. Here's the (very) rough draft of my panel idea:
"Taking on the Grief Boss
How gaming and the gamer community helped us through
Join a panel of real life survivors as they share stories of how games and the gamer community helped them through some of the darkest periods in their life. Organized by a gamer since the Atari days and a regular PAX visitor and a survivor of his wife’s suicide. Come listen to stories of loss, hope and humor. Ask us anything or share your own story in the Q&A period after the discussion."
The title and submission description are not set in stone but that's the idea of the panel.
I'm looking for panelists with similar experiences who found games and the gaming community to be helpful in their recovery. You'll need to be willing to talk about your experience and answer questions. Please submit your application to 68newyorker at gmail or private message me.
If I get more than a handful of people I'll pick 2 or 3 based on story and interest. I'll respond to everyone who submits an application. I'd like to have everyone by June 10th to allow enough time for us to talk about a finalized proposal before submitting it for review to PAX.
Thanks and I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
