I thought I'd be really excited about this... yet I'm not. I read that wiki post and I thought, meh, sounds like an upgrade to Starcraft. New units. New race. I call that an expansion.

Or it's all just a hoax.

EDIT: I don't buy it. Blizzard has never shut down servers to ensure success of a sequel, ever. Diablo I and Warcraft II servers are still running, for fuck's sake. And if they're wrong about that they could well be wrong about everything else.

Look at the names for the "new" Zerg units. "Hyperlisk, King, Bladeling," Blizzard is much better at coming up with cool names then that. They are also just bigger versions of other units. This is just one reason why you should take everything written in a Wiki with a grain of salt.

I guess you didnt play the bonus Protoss missions in Brood War where you find tanks containing a prototype zerg/protoss... Including (I dont rmember his name, one of the later protoss heroes, he flew a ship)

How many new units did humans get in Warcraft 3? Wasn't all that many. Orcs did better, and NE/Undead were both completely new, but still.

Also, 2 brand new units and significant changes to existing units could make for a pretty different experience.

I have a feeling if Blizzard ever makes Starcraft 2, the announcement will be a total spectacle. At some big games show or convention or a press conference or some such. Not the editing of a Wikipedia entry. I mean it's Starcraft 2 for god's sake.

Is the Korean bit true? I thought it was confirmed that people from Blizzard met with top ranking Korean SC players to discuss gameplay elements of SC2.

I guess only time will tell.

Also SC2 isn't that farfetched, think these rumors come out and Blizzard announces Blizzcon within the same week.

You know, an expansion - rather than sequel - sounds somewhat plausible: the game is such a classic with such an entrenched fan-base, they may not want to update it significantly.

But seriously, could anyone possibly read this line:

That, and if a siege tank is about to blow up, whatever is killing it is sure to kill that puny unit that comes out of it in short order.

Seriously, Blizzard wouldn't wait this long to come up with a few new units and buildings. SC2 will be much more deep than this.

Look at any other huge franchise. Halo, Zelda, DMC, jesus there are too many... They all took a good deal of time between each iteration, and they added or changed a good deal between each.




Blizzard knows what they're doing, its not this.
