    That's actually the way you want it.

    I could have, in theory, invested that $450 and made money on it.

    Since I don't invest I really view the refund as a way to force myself to save money... but in all honest, it's just losing money due to inflation, lack of interest, etc.

    I'm getting about 1700 back because we itemized this year. We already upped the allowances on my W4 for last year, so it looks like we can bump it up again so we have more money during the year, though a big refund feels nice.

    Counties are allowed to set their own.

    I believe that most places are between 8.3-8.9%.

    Eh. 9 isin't bad, but in michigan it's 6 percent. But we also have an income tax and a shitty economy here.

    Ahh, I miss the days of simple forms and refunds.
    Now I live in the world of quarterly payments and forms long enough to fill a phone book.

    These days, the majority of my voting goes towards who will raise taxes the least, at state and federal levels.

    You'd think small business ownership would be encouraged, not discouraged year after year.
