I thought it had decent puzzles, an interesting plot, and was pretty user friendly. Combine that with being nostalgic for escape-the-room flash games and craving more wacky characters like in Phoenix Wright, and I personally liked it.
E: I can see why not everybody would like it, though. The plot's interesting but the writing and localization aren't amazing in the way Phoenix Wright is (I'd still say it's good, though), there are occasional annoyances with branching paths, a few of the puzzles are obtuse, and the voice acting isn't A-list. I'd say it's certainly good enough to look past all that, though.
Before that incredibly entertaining meltdown the writer had seven one-star reviews. He now has 344.
normally i'd be all, 'well people shouldn't do that'
but it turns out the guy is a plagiarist
Maybe we'll get our own, entertaining mini Shia Lebouf for a while.
Shia is completely inscrutable at this point, because I know and he knows that he's doing some stuff because he's crazy and other stuff because he knows it'll get shared, but I don't think anybody (even Shia) knows which is which.
Cute weeabette liked me on OKCupid, and I'm like maybe 30% sure she is the same weeabette who was in one of my college classes that I gave up trying to hit on because I couldn't tell if she wasn't about me or if she was just too awkward.
but does she like...naruto
No, she seems way more weeabette than that. Her profile is all like Macross, Persona, and Zero Escape.
And if she actually is the same girl I'm thinking of she's the kind of person who comes to classes wearing a tartan skirt with thigh-high stockings and stands around pigeon-toed, etc.
But goddamn if it ain't some great pulpy scifi shit
It is legitimately one of the most terribly written and paced things I've ever sat through an entire Let's Play of
The first game was bad enough, Virtue's Last Reward was unbearable unless you're actively mocking it
Did the Let's Player not know you can skip through repeated scenes? Because that was a huge issue with the first game and if you don't skip through repeated text, yeah, it'll be a loooooooong ride.
As for the pacing, I dunno. I like the idea of showing you part of conversations in one path while letting you listen in on the whole thing in other paths, especially given the plot, but that did make things drag a bit.

I loved the awful writing, in the same way I love the Phoenix Wright writing! Yeah, I mean the pacing is terrible and it does the very Japanese thing of explaining shit to you like 80 times in incredibly awkward ways, but I forgive it for how ridiculously far the story goes into left-field. Also it has a fantastic robot waifu character!

Believe me Orphane, this is well-tread territory for me
I was sent a copy of this book by the author for an honest review; but even if the author decided not to send me a copy, I would’ve forwardly accepted buying a copy, as this book did not fail to live up to the many other 5-star reviews it already has.
OhMyGod. This book was pretty much, literally perfect.
You always kind of assume the first five to ten reviews of a self-published book on Amazon or GoodReads or wherever are the writer's family, friends and other members of their writing class. When they're not actually the writer posting under a pseudonym from the library or the internet cafe down the road, of course.

Listen I know we were joking about how you like giving head a while ago, but that's just obscene
Uh excuse me simon; in my canon spin-off manga it's all the other girls who lose their heads and then Mami lives happily ever after.
In seriousness, outside of the official adaptation of the series and such, the only reference to Mami's head being removed in any of the official spin-off stuff from the franchise is joking meta-reference in comedy manga
There's one ongoing series that is just called Mami's Everyday Life, focusing on her as she does... everyday life things?
my thesis is a nightmare of staring into the abyss of moenomics

One of the producers has stated that a potential future project for the franchise would be an anime version of that manga, since it is fluffy slice of life material that would be eaten up by the fans. Nothing official is slated for release in the near future, though, beyond the franchise continuing to cash cow the nichijoukei aspect of the franchise with manga and character goods releasing
To be fair, spinoffs like that are pretty common when anime becomes a cash cow. Like, the number of comedic (and noncomedic) spinoffs of Fate is ridiculous.
Hell, even Teen Titans got in on it, and it was just anime inspired.
They don't make cash-in spin-offs of Satoshi Kon's works...
(Please don't correct me on this)

one thing i wish i could see more in manga and such are extended timeskips (I guess the premier example right now would actually be Naruto) but i guess they tend to shy away from that stuff because speculation energizes the fanbase? and because fans who don't get their OTP get upset?

DBZ and One Piece definitely use timeskips, and I'm pretty sure Bleach does as well. It's pretty common in Shonen stuff, but I think it's pretty difficult to pull off unless you need a justification to introduce new powers or gloss over time between major events. Otherwise it just interrupts the flow.
Non anime/manga example, but the worst timeskip I ever saw was in the web serial Worm, since it glossed over a huge number of events right when the plot was starting to turn and it just felt really out of place given the otherwise pretty steady pacing of the story.

Space Dandy was excellent, and the dub was amazingly on point.
It's not easy being a man of integrity. Like some sort of superhero, you have to be prepared to do battle with injustice wherever you see it. This particular adventure begins with the unlikely scenario of me embarking on an acting class - for no other reason than I enjoyed it at school and felt it might be a skill worth exploring as games and movies grow closer together. Hey, if you know you're capable of anything, why not? However, I had forgotten what it's like to sit before an insecure teacher and their flock of servile sheep. This one had the knives out for me from the start - beginning, rather predictably, with a stab at my name. She found the name "Dickie" objectionable and implied that I might like to change it for the sake of my career. "Not a chance", I retorted, pointing out that it was unique and memorable (a journalist I haven't had contact with in over 5 years instantly remembered who I was for that very reason). Besides, I wear it as a battle scar that states you can give me the most ridiculous name possible and I'll still make people respect it. She should have been paying ME for this wisdom! Realizing that my mind wasn't up for grabs, she then moved onto the physical and demanded to know why I was sitting in a "confrontational manner". This, I discovered, meant having good posture and holding your head high. I cautioned her that it was a side effect of being fit and confident, and refused to apologize for it. "Why is physical strength important to you?", she pressed, "Were you bullied at school?". "No, I bully bullies", I offered, "That's why I'm standing up to you". We could have made a movie right there with such classic lines! She wasn't impressed though, and pointed out that of all the people in the class I was the only one that had a problem with her. Trying to make MDickie feel bad about being "the odd one out"? The poor bitch didn't know that I could write a book on why that's a GOOD thing! I submitted that I was the only one with the courage and honesty to say what I was really thinking, and again refused to apologize for it. On the contrary, I took it as an enormous compliment. Any fool can sit there nodding their head and smiling politely if it gets them through the next 10 minutes without incident. Clutching at straws, the poor woman then claimed that "I need her more than she needs me". Again, I had to disagree and asserted that I don't need anyone for anything. She misunderstood my words spectacularly, as weak opponents often do, and dismissed me as a soulless robot who doesn't HAVE anyone or anything. I countered that divorcing yourself from "need" is actually the height of humanity and elevates you to a place of CHOICE - where you can in fact "have" anything you want. Since psychoanalysis was the order of the day, I then submitted that her thoughts turned to a "robot" because she wished I was one - and was rather annoyed that I had too much character to be controlled by her! And with that I stormed out of her pitiful class, which hadn't touched upon "acting" in its entire 3-hour length. It seems that skill, like every other, is one that I'll have to master on my own - free from the clutches of embittered has-beens who don't know what they're talking about...
OMG, who is this man. I can't stop laughing.
It's like reading a Terry Goodkind interview without the part where I just feel vaguely sad for the guy.

Incorrect.
The correct answer to any question related to Madoka is to make Mami related puns.
