@Hiryu02 I enjoyed trying this out, but quickly realized that I am truly awful at fighting games, so For Honor is definitely Not For Me.
If I get an invite code I will send it to you, my dude.
Hey man, good to see your name again! In any case, this is a game that from most accounts I hear has a pretty steep learning curve, but does usually "click" for most people. It could take some time.
I actually think this might be a good game for people who aren't normally good at traditional fighting games. Aside from learning the main system, there isn't the same amount of memorization and execution required. Most combos are simple two or three hit combos, with rare exceptions. You are not doing f+mk, dash cancel cl.st.hp xx qcf+p, p-fadc cr.hp, qcf qcf+ppp or anything like that.
Almost everything is shown in the HUD, attack/block directions, guard breaks etc. The game actually has strong ties to bushido blade in that positioning and reactions/strategy are very important, more so than just spamming an attack chain over and over.
Personally I think that if you invested a bit of time, hopefully with me in open beta, we can make a fighter out of you yet! What say thee? @Iron Weasel
Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

Yeah, I don't think this game is difficult to control - the actualy inputs/etc are pretty simple it's more about the head games and such than anything else. You aren't going to fail because of execution, but you might get executed because you failed. ™

So what is everyone getting this on? I imagine the majority is going to be on the PS4.
Xbone for me. I believe we are gonna be a small group.

If I do get it, it will also be on Xbone.
The multiplayer looks fairly anemic, though, so I'm waiting for reviews and word-of-mouth info to prove otherwise before I pull the trigger on picking it up.
I think it really comes down to how much you like the core combat of the game, play the open beta and decide from there. We don't really know yet how large the single player portion of the game will be, and past release what kind of cadence we may see new maps/characters rolled out.
Ubisoft has actually been really good about supporting their games lately (The Division took a while but the DLC has been great and the game is in a much better state, Rainbow Six has also seen tremendously good post-release support) so I'm pretty comfortable with my For Honor purchase based on how they've been handling things lately.

That's good to hear, tbh I had reservations about Ubisoft handling this. For me the core combat IS the main draw so as long as I could get duels in, DLC support etc were not as high of a priority. I mean I will probably play the story at some point, but then again I said that too about Black Ops 3 and never touched the story mode.

Nothing super exciting but I've got a few streams in my Past Broadcasts from the last beta - I don't even really do commentary or anything it's mostly just gameplay with my mic muted.
This is the first one from the last Closed Beta I think - I started it when loading the match to fight your "Master" or whatever of your faction and it took long enough that I was mostly dead the first round when it started. I had played in earlier betas so I'm not starting from zero but it was my first time using the Nobushi and you can see sort of a progression of me "getting it" again:
I actually feel like it will grow in popularity over time. I haven't seen a ton of ads, it's fun to watch on stream, and like Steep there's not much else out there to scratch the itch.
Steep had the usual surge during the first week, fell off a cliff, but has been growing slowly from sales and word of mouth. It's doing better than I thought it would, and my expectations were probably higher than they should have been.
So we can't play the Lawbringer during the open beta? Seriously? That freaking blows.
They weren't in the Closed Beta either, and neither were the Valkyrie or the Shugoki. Have they said why?
The unspoken, obvious reason is that the beta's are as much a marketing demo as they are a network test and it chopping off a quarter of the classes helps prevent consumers from feeling like they've seen it all and not purchasing.
Ubisoft is really big on Open Betas and such lately and they are probably partly for a stress test of production servers but more likely they are a way to get more interest in the game and get streams/etc out there showing it off.

Since it's open, I can just login to xbox live store and download the beta client no worries that day, right? No need to sign up for anything I hope?

Probably? I'm sure there will be more details a day or two before launch but sometimes companies are weird and don't do it that way.

I ask because I did the whole sign up thing on the ubisoft website in hopes of getting into the last beta, and I didn't get in, and my ubisoft account still says I don't have access to any betas or demos. Might not mean anything.
However I did in fact get into the Division open beta no worries and that's when I originally linked up my XBL profile to ubisoft, so hopefully it's same as that.

I'll be most likely buying this on PS4 just because of the anticipated volume of PA PS4 people getting this
I didn't get a chance to play the closed beta, I'll hopefully have time for the open beta, but every gameplay video I see has me drooling to play
Its really fun. Hope we can get a regular PA group going
Argh, it's frustrating having to play this on a PS4 at 30FPS when my PC can max this game out completely and average 100+ FPS at 1440P.
I'll probably end up on PC if I get this.
yeah I feel that for sure
PS4 is "good enough" on the graphics these days for me to accept it for some games even though my PC is much better. I often get sucked into getting multiplayer games on PS4 over PC just because of wanting to play with PA people. Mass Effect Andromeda for instance I'll probably get on PS4 for the same reason, although I haven't 100% decided.
I might be getting a PS4 in the next few months, but I will probably stick to PC since I would effectively have to pay almost twice the price for the same game on PS4.
I played the tech test and the three other classes were available. The tutorial vids for them are in the beta files, you can watch them here:
One thing though! The faction war is cross-platform, are we going to be fighting together as a group? Will @Sonork play and grace us with a sweet emblem?

If any cross is possible, it would be PC/XBOX. And I really hope so. That would do wonders for population.
Yeah, they definitely need to add cross-platform play, since there really isn't any advantage to KBAM here. But at least faction wars are confirmed cross-platform.

So, what the bloody hell is with the Shugoki getting one hit kills off high health foes with unblockable charges from low health, then healing to full? That is easily the stupidest move I've seen in the entire game, and it is shown multiple times throughout his video. Headbutts/charges and the like are already annoying enough as they are (though I understand completely necessary for gap closers and zoning oriented characters) but the possibility of a one hit kill being added to it is absolutely mind boggling. How on earth could that possibly be a good idea or function correctly?
EDIT: I suppose you kinda just have to play against Shugoki like you are playing against a Warlord or Raider on a narrow bridge, but at all times? Just seems kinda unfun to me. Unless his charge is more difficult to execute than the usual dash > gb would he not be able to get a guaranteed one hit kill from parry using that charge? Does he have significant defensive disadvantages to account for that like being unable to parry or something?

Well I think it's bullshit too, but I should note Shugoki can only do it when below a certain amount of their health.

Also, if he misses, he takes damage. I keep reading that those 3 characters are still being worked on so, a lot of stuff in that vid might not be in the full game.
This game came out of no where for me. I am suddenly very interested. My general rule is, if I will play it with a gamepad, I buy it on console. Right now sucks to buy console games. PS4 Pro isn't worth buying, and Scorpio isn't out yet. I guess I buy it on bone and hope 'm still interested once Scorpio comes out. blah.
If you are reading this add me.

Hmm, I was under the impression the new heroes would be free. This trailer makes it sound like the maps will be free but the heroes will have to be paid for.
edit: Hmm, it's also possible that they don't specify that the new heroes will be free so that people will buy the season pass, not realizing they don't have to.

Nothing in the Season Pass description or anything says you will have to pay for characters. Honestly, I don't understand what the Deluxe Edition or Season Pass are actually giving you.
People who don't pick up the season pass can get the new heroes by spending For Honor's in-game currency, Steel, which is awarded for completing matches and other in-game events. Ubisoft did not say if the heroes can also be purchased for real money.
Seems season pass is just early access and cosmetic stuff?
Checking Neogaf, someone there clarified that it will seemingly work similarly to their current Rainbow Six model, which is also similar to Street Fighter 5's model.
In those games the characters are technically free, but cost a TON of in-game currency to purchase. Apparently in Rainbow Six purchasing a class included at launch would cost around 1,000 in-game currency, while dlc classes were 25,000.
Ah ok, so it's sort of a time vs. convenience thing. If you play the game a ton it won't really matter, if you don't have the time but are willing to pay then you buy the season pass.
I kind of want to go Gold version just because I really like the game, but I already pre-ordered the basic version on PSN so I'll probably just wait until I actually feel like I need the Season Pass before bothering with it.
