Oh man, @McFodder , I went back a few pages and Darcy looks like she loves her home. I love that patch!
Thanks! She's settled in great, we've taken her to the local greyhound playgroup a couple of times now, and took her to a local festival thing to help promote the adoption group we got her through.
She's been a bit mischievous the last few days, chewing up a couple of things. I have no idea how she decides what looks good to destroy, on Monday it was a few bottles of my fiancee's cleanser and stuff as well as her razor (eek - found all the blades and no mouth damage done fortunately) from the bathroom, which she would have had to climb into the bath to reach. Yesterday she opened up a plastic tub with a lid and stole some fingernail treatment stuff after the tubs have been sitting there for months.
She has toys out the wazoo that she barely shows any interest in, and we've brought a couple inside after she'd taken them up to the dog door. This morning I stuffed some treats into her chewable rubber bone so hoping that will keep her occupied.
It's a good thing she's adorable!

One thing I heard when we were dealing with Atrus really gnarly sep. anxiety issues was that after a year they act very very differently. It almost seems like a completely different dog. I thought they were nuts but it's pretty accurate, for us. He just...chilled out.
He hated his crate (because he had worms and couldn't help but poop himself in there, a rarity among crate trained dogs), so he really calmed down after we removed it (and obviously doubled down on deworming). He has the run of the house these days, many years in, and never bothers anything. Except he'll go retrieve one of each of our shoes to hang out with.
Surgery is tomorrow. Hope he does ok with his toe.
And about the shoes - that's one of the funny things, she'll often steal a shoe and not do any harm to it, but it seems to be plasticy things that she prefers to chew on - in fact, in one instance she dragged some new shoes I'd bought (still in the box, in the bag) into her bed, completely destroyed the bag and all but the bottom of the box, and left the two shoes still sitting on the bottom bit of cardboard.
Fortunately minimal financial damage so far *knock on wood*
Overall though, she's an amazing companion.

Yeah Ori does the shoe thing too. She'll randomly grab one my wife's slippers off the shoe rack, run to her bed, throw it once into the air and catch it and then completely ignore it after that.
I took him to the vet yesterday, and they gave him an anti-imflammatory shot and said to wait and see for a week, which must've helped with the pain because he perked up a lot last night. After taking him to the park today though, I can tell he's in some pain. Could be stress-related since my ex and I are sharing him week-to-week, but I don't know.
This is the highlight of my next two days off, being entertained by rowdy kittens
My sister had to put down her dog of 14 years a week and a half ago. I got to spend some time with the dog the night before, and I was rubbing her belly like she liked, when my sister remarked that she hadn't let anybody do that in days. Which was great, cause it made both of us cry even more when I stopped and she started whining for more pets.

I love it when cats get that cracked out look, twitching, huge eyes. It's great.
After age one. You want to let them finish most of puberty before you take away their testosterone. Going earlier than that can cause a load of issues, including increased cancer risk.

My pups have been using this crate for months and only one figured this out, our guest here was in it for about 3 minutes.
one of the kitties has been sticking her tongue out and drooling lately. i lose track of time so easily, and tonight she just looks sad, more exaggerated mouth movements, and i know it's got to be hurting. the guilt the guilt. i've mixed up some pate food with more liquid, so she's eating, and i can hopefully get her into the vet in the morning. at least she feels well enough to groom.
vet says she will probably have to have all but maybe two teeth pulled. she's on antibiotic and steroids, and we're gonna see if there's any improvement in about 10 days, but the sooner she can get surgery, the better. cats can do fine without teeth, and orange kitties are apparently more prone to these kinds of problems, but no doubt that i wasn't vigilant enough, either. she's only 4.
she seems fine, now, i am just wracked with guilt. and dread.
...anxiety is inconvenient.

Depends on your country too. Europe seems very strongly 6 months at minimum, the US will practically do it right out of the womb.

I didn't really want to sit on the couch tonight anyway...

Staying with family for a few days in MA post-PAX, and since the last time I came up here my aunt got an adorable polydactyl cat and I'm incredibly jealous
He's still a little skittish around me so I couldn't get a great picture of him and his paws
so, surgery is obvs still a necessity, but her gums look better after the antibiotic course. might be able to hold off on extracting a few more teeth, depending on xrays and such. i need to decide if i want to go with a dental specialist (one is more expensive, one is probably less) or our regular clinic. i'm inclined to go with the latter, because every person i've interacted with there has seemed genuinely caring and competent -- i already trust them. my regular vet seems confident that they could handle it, but didn't want us to sell the car to pay for it (i'm unemployed), which is part of why he pointed me at the other options. gonna schedule for somewhere within 3 weeks...
i'm just a bit jumpy about anything with anesthetic, 'cause one of the family kitties died after a routine teeth cleaning. he was older, but it just hit us all kinda hard.
and for something completely positive, a pic from yesterday:

My friend was catsitting while I was gone, so I just got Pixel back from her last night
He was a little out of sorts last night, but things are pretty much back to normal this morning
Oh dear (we get to pick them up the second week of June!). The buyer for the first kitten was a breeder whose mom cats ended up having 14 kittens all at once, so she backed out. And apparently they're both really attached to each other and well...

First time I've felt remotely compelled to get a PS4. Also super weird seeing posts I don't remember making with no context.

I hear they can also spit acid up to 10 feet away.

Pixel loves parsley too, but she thinks the camera is some sort of death ray.

One, in particular, caught my eye.
I may be getting a canine companion soonish.
Did...did you get your eye back?
