as far as heavies go for IS, You really cant go wrong with Thunderbolts or Jagers.
Solid Thunderbolts are the 9SE LPL build (I don't own it but I want to buy it and do a 5LPL build SO BAD), the 5SS which is a 7 Medium Pulse brawler with insane quirks, and the 9S with its ERPPCs, I personally run 3ERPPCs in it and nothing else but heatsinks.
Jagers are also a very solid heavy choice, and in some ways superior to the Thunderbolts, though with a big drawback being that its cockpit isn't in the head its in the torso, so its center mass right where people hit, The ways its superior to the Thunderbolts is that just about every Jager can run the same build so if you find one that you are really solid with you can run it on all of them, but my personal favorite is the Jager-A which has 4 missile hard points in addition to its ballistic and energy armpoints.
There are other heavies, but the good and bad gulf in them is a bit more pronounced and wide than with Jagers and Thunderbolts.
Like, Grasshoppers are ridiculously tall. Which means cover that hides/protects other mechs will be about ballbearing height for you in a grasshopper, but that extreme height also has a benefit of being able to stand behind meat shields other mechs and fire over their heads.
I can not for the life of me come up with a decent Panther 10P build.
the meta seems to be two MGs and 2 SRM4s but that just has so little umphf, tried running a UAC/5 but that was less than stellar. I suppose a lot of this is coming off builds that run two ERPPCs and 3-4 LLs

The heat is much more manageable if you gently cycle fire, plus it lets you keep up a nasty barrage for a shockingly long period of time compared to just firing all 3 at once.
I have two weapon groups on my 9S. Both have every ERPPC selected, the second one is on chain fire. I use that as my primary fire and just tap it every time I want to hit something and keep taping until I need to stop.
First one is for particularly juicy well cracked targets that need a final oompha to finish off.
I would say its more important to stay far from the fight than it would be in a 2xERPPC panther, at least the panther has speed and jumpjets to get out of trouble.
Do any of you have good Enforcer 5P builds? I can't really get anything grooving with it. UAC/5 quirks on a medium are dumb. Apparently you can jumpsnipe with it, but fuck that.
Edit: Nevermind, tried a triple AC/2 build, it's fun.

ENF-5P 2xU/AC5 is what I run. I've solo'd Direwolves with the build.
I keep thinking I'm somewhere in the middle tiers, but then I spectate some guy on my team that I am 100% certain is running a stock Jagermech with single heatsinks.

Definitely still wood league.
If you're not at least Tier 2 when the info becomes visible, I will eat a hat*.

I jumped on last night and played a couple of games, had one on the new Forest Colony map. Man, that is a map that I really like. Between the way that map handles routing people and the amount of cover, and the new matchmaker giving us similar teams, it felt great. Lots of little skirmishes between lances and then a bigger brawl at the end that resulted in just one player left for each team.
Forest Colony really promotes that lance-on-lance combat and I love it.
I'm really having a hard time getting a grasp of the new forest colony map. I keep getting myself isolated and out of position like 90% of the time I play it
NO CYRIL!!! When they're dead they're just hookers!

I'm just sticking with the blob. If I'm in my Cheetah I can scout out a bit, but don't go too far.

I think I got pushe all the way down to the kiddy pool.
I just had a match with a 3xPPC grasshopper who was brawling, and miraculously ended up the last man standing..and only won us the game because he took a shot at 91m and got the final kill.

Don't forget HE was the last one.
because I was actually in the mix and killed 3 mechs before going down.
I'm starting to dislike the new map. I've lost every game played on it, and I've started on the same side every time (upper side).
Is this map really one-sided or am I just stewing in my own confirmation bias?
It's not one-sided from what I've seen. It's just gonna take people a month or so to settle into a groove and create a meta. There's a lot of places you can go and plenty of cover/sniping spots for both teams. It's honestly a pretty great map.

on a side note, i just tried out the trial thunderbolt tdr9se and finally didnt feel helpless in a bigger mech

Keep polishing the turd guys. I'd be proud to have a bronzed turd on my shelf.

5S really isn't very stellar, compared to literally every other thunderbolt its pretty meh.
Large Pulse Lasers are life.
Honestly its almost enough to make me forsake the blessed god of LRMs in favor of the cult of the pulse
That's how I feel about the 9S, since it generates more heat than damage.

I... I don't even know what to say...
So what's this build for the SE? It is intriguing me to add another tbolt to make a trifecta of doom.

you can fire the ERPPCs 4-5 times without overheating which is plenty for a long range build
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
Edit: Nevermind, tried a triple AC/2 build, it's fun.

But if you want something different..

Definitely still wood league.
3 Large Pulse, 2 Medum lasers, and as much engine and heatsinks as you can cram in there.

I don't remember precisely how I have mine laid out, but it's something like that

I hate you so much. I didn't need griffins quickdraws, but I guess I have them now.

It would be nice for a price drop. But a bonus 30 days premium time is nice.
I miiiiight pick up the Stalker pack. It's 1 of 2 assault chassis I don't have yet.
so this just happened
never broken 1k damage before
YEEEAAAAAH!!!
250 is an average score now

And he did it in a damn light 'Mech. Granted, a Firestarter but still.
Well, I'm officially made obsolete here.
