Hyperkin Retron 5 being a huuge piece of garbage

So despite mixed reviews and common sense, I bought a Retron 5 clone console. Upon opening it and hooking everything up... it refused to turn on. I have tried a couple things, mostly just unplugged everything and tried power cycling it. Nada. I was wondering if anyone here has experience with these or knows a solution? I started a support ticket through their site but I both have to a) send it in and b) pay $20 to get it shipped. I would rather fix it myself if possible. Any help is appreciated.

    The website says you have to hold the power button for 5-10 seconds until a blue LED on the top comes on...are you waiting that long?

    Yup. The lights don't come on no matter how long I hold it.

    I got an email back saying I can just return it to Amazon if I don't want to pay for a repair. I guess this can be closed now.
