F3 lost to SA in the online finals to see who would be playing in the 1st/2nd place match but had already secured a spot for the live lan finals. Since the EU online finals were scheduled the same day as the Euro cup finals and the 3rd place match had no money on the line, by the looks of things Mike said fuck it and watched the Euros, so F3 forfeited the 3rd place match.
Guess some other shit went down behind the scenes as Mike quit via Twitter, F3 social media guy responded publicly and unprofessionally on both twitter and Reddit before the director of F3 took over and removed his comments/tweets and now Mike appears to have deleted his Twitter account.
Thinking about finally getting on board with the game.
Is the community so far ahead though that I'm just going to get trounced/be dead weight in every game?
There are new people joining every day, and when you start you'll generally get matched with people around your same skill level. So yes, you should definitely join in. If you're on Steam or XBox, friend me and I'll play a few games with you!
@Kyougu I started out in March-ish and played with other people starting out all the way up to playing with friends who have 600+ hours. You certainly learn a lot when you play with friends/other PAers who have tons of experience.
No, I am not really communist. Yes, it is weird that I use this name.
Would definitely second the playing with friends if possible, the teamwork seems to be a lot better and friends tend to be better about mistakes and razing each other in good fun.
If you want to hit me up for some games on Steam some night (usually after 8pm central) I'd be game for that. Just look for norfair on in the PA group.
I'll also probably try to get you to install curse voice if you do though. The normal group I play with uses it.

and you should install Discord as many of us use that. :P

I'd say Discord is quickly becoming the new norm when it comes to VOIP. IMHO it's already ahead of all the other big names like Teamspeak, Ventrilo and Skype when it comes to gaming.

I'd never heard of it before ComministCow told me about it, but from what I've used of it so far I really like it. I'd support standardizing on that one.
I ran into some pretty chill players in ranked the other day. My two teammates dropped with like 3:30 left on the clock because we were down 3-0. I stuck it out because practice is practice, and one of the opposing dudes was clearly better*. And they were pretty nice. Nice breath of fresh air compared to some other games I've played recently.
*By better I mean he was in placements, and was clearly carrying the other team. He had like 1.5k score at the end, and his teammates had under 400. I asked where he was previously, and he said Rising Star (this was a Prospect 2-3 match)
Rumours are the crate system and more far fetched, apparently cross play between consoles is ready to go at the flip of a switch, Microsoft is on-board and just convincing Sony.

The US, Japan and Korea must improve their relations by kicking the shit out of each other at Rocket League.
I just did a flying goal with 0 seconds left to win a tied ranked match.
It's the best goal I've ever scored, I think.
This is why Rocket League is like a drug for me. Those kind of moments are few and far between, but when you do get them, the rush is so intense that you'll keep playing it as long as necessary to achieve that high again.

Watching it again it doesn't seem as impressive, but man it felt amazing.
Any tips for getting good at the game? My ground game is okay, but I can't do anything when the ball is in the air.
Play through the various tutorials in-between matches. After searching for a match, you can exit out and start a tutorial for Aerials or Defense or whatever, and it'll continue searching as you practice and automatically join you once the match starts.
Besides that, just keep playing. So much of this game is just seeing as many random situations as many times as possible and building the muscle memory needed to handle those situations. No one is good in the air when they first start. Hell, I'm 300 hours in and still not great in the air. It really is all about just getting hours under your belt.

Step 1: Don't miss the ball
Step 2: Win.
Nope?

Hahaha, made sense in my head.

Not at all
Changes are you're already better than everyone else you are matched up with, everyone's terrible in random match ups.
I'm Voltburn on PSN if you feel like teaming up ( or anyone else!) and kick some ball. If you see me online feel free to invite me!

I literally preordered a game I didn't play. Fiddlesticks.
I did this with Wolfenstein NWO. I only recently got it knocked out so could move on to DOOM, which in retrospect was a good move

I'm still waiting for that Giant Bomb Community flag.

I'm still waiting for the Penny Arcade community flag which they said they were going to do a couple of weeks after launch.
