Finding a place to stay in Detroit

Hi guys, I am new in here. I am a native of Toronto, Canada and I have come here as a part of my new business. I will have to stay here for a year to make sure that things are settled and I obviously cannot stay in a hotel for that long. So I need to find a place to stay till my work here is complete. Once the place is ready, I will head to home call up a international moving service called Armstrong Moving and will transfer my things to here. Can anyone give me a few tips about finding a place to stay. I would prefer condos or apartments because most probably my wife would also be joining me. So please advice me on where to looks and what prices to expect. Thanks!
