HDD no longer recognized/available

EvigilantEvigilant VARegistered User regular
I noticed today that one of my backup HDD's, an internal 500gb SATA HDD, has stopped being recognized. It doesn't show up in the device manager, no drive is found, and I haven't made any hardware changes.

In the bios the drive is "recognized" in that, the bios recognizes something is occupying one of the sata slots but it shows up at 0/0gbs, no model number or any other information. This drive had all my backup information, application installs, files, etc.

Is there anything I can do to try and recover the drive or is it pretty much dead?

Nevermind, the drive started responding. So now I'm moving all those backup files off the drive.
