selling advice

I've got a weird item I want to sell, but it's so weird that I really don't know how to go about tracking down a suitable audience. I'm not trying to subversively sell it here - it's such an odd piece, I wouldn't expect anyone here interested in it anyway. I'm just looking for advice - any ideas at all on where I could go to sell this. Ebay doesn't feel like much of an option, as I'm pretty sure it would be lost in the clutter, even with premium posting. (I'll do it anyway, but I don't hold out much hope) Same with craig's list.

Item: Hand held skate blade sharpener. These were produced in the very early 50's, but never sold. They were promotional pieces that the salesmen handed out to display the abilities of the carbide inside. Only about 10 were made (by GE, anyway), and apparently very few of them were actually handed out. In terms of just material value, it's in the thousands. As a collectior's piece, there's potential for much more, or perhaps nothing at all. It belonged to my grandfather who worked for GE, as a traveling salesman, selling heavy industrial machinery, tools, etc. He's the one who gave the skinny on it's history, but I have no corroborating research to hold up that story (and I doubt I'll ever find some). I'm presuming that the piece was manufactured in the Hamilton (ontario, canada) plant, but I can't be sure.

I could take it back to GE and see if they'd be interested, but I doubt I'll get anywhere (again though, I'll try anyway). At this point, I'm at a loss for further ideas. It's just not a commonly used, or known item.

Anyone else have any bright ideas?

Hm. Try looking around for figure skating and/or hockey forums. See if they have an auction subforum (or just contact whoever runs the site).

Short of that, maybe try looking around for specialty sports shops / sports collectibles shops and see who is interested.
