I'm having a lot of trouble maintaining any enthusiasm for this, considering just about every former cast member has hinted at being very upset about it
Yeah it's more like a couple of them have had mildly annoyed reactions and everybody else has either been silent or supportive
Beez is also going to return to the show, so there's another person who isn't upset

I maintain my theory that they're only silent because they have bad memories of being fucked over after the show got canceled
None of which had anything to do with Joel
The rights to MST3K were so weird and treated so strangely for so long before Shout! finally got hold of them, and then consolidated them even later (I remember there was a weird flash website up on mst3k.com for a while and that was all Jim Mallon's doing as I recall)
I just think it's people being cautious or, maybe in Frank's case, upset that they can't be a primary fixture on the show anymore
Mike, Bill, Trace, Frank, and Josh have all said plenty on the matter. the story seems to be: while all those guys love the fanbase, they harbor resentment towards the series because their work had continued to be exploited long after they were done with it and they saw very little-to-no financial compensation come from it. most of them have moved on in various ways but it's still a touchy subject when you dig into the root of it and this kickstarter seemed to raise a lot of those old feelings to the surface again, hence the snarky jobs on twitter. Joel likely extended the same offer to the old cast that he gave the listed "cameos" (ie unpaid/very little pay and just being really small bit parts) and most have declined simply because they've decided to move on
as i mentioned before, Joel is more focused on this endeavor succeeding than he is in placating the old cast. luckily they're all still around in case this new venture ends up being shit
I'm seeing places say that it's 14 episodes now but without an explanation. I thought 13 was the bonus? Where'd 14 come from?
During the telethon Joel announced a new target for a 14th episode, something like 30 minutes before the end and a couple hundred thousand away. The goal was met at the last minute as Joel was remarking that they would keep the add-ons running so that the target could still be met. The total updated from the add-ons already sold, somebody told Joel as he was speaking, and the look of surprise on his face was obvious.

14 episodes and a murderer's row of comedy talent makes me super excited to see how this whole experiment (heh) turns out
Given what Joel said about the kickstarter making waves among the besuited executive types, I even wonder if they'll get picked up by Netflix or some such before the show even finishes filming
Didn't seem necessary to make a new thread to say that the current Humble Weekly Bundle is a buncha Rifftrax keys - https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly
The NatGeo "Total Riff Off" episodes are great. I highly recommend anyone who hasn't seen them to take advantage of this opportunity to watch Demon Bat.

So what do you get when you purchase that bundle? Is it movie and all or just audio and what platform or is it just files?
These are all VOD releases which means audio and video. I assume you get codes to "purchase" them at Rifftrax.com, which lets you download the files in pretty much whatever format you need, or just stream them from the site if you'd prefer.
Anyone here want a copy of Mario Bros and Birdemic from this bundle?
If there are no thread regulars who want it then I'd really like the SMB. It's why I was considering going for the $12 tier so it would be nice to not have to spend the extra I guess.

This is the best telethon
This guy's pretty fun
e: THE CARDS ARE SO TINY
Mike Nelson hasn't even mentioned it
Bill sent in a tape of him supporting the kickstarter and plugging Rifftrax Live during Turkey Day
The only one I've seen say something backhanded was Frank

I like when those two guys from something awful do it.
