I grabbed FF13 and 13-2 on the last Steam Sale. I couldn't make more then maybe half way through FF13. I like how it looks, I like how it plays even, though I wish it was more engaging, but man the characters and story are so awful. I just can't do it.
"allegedly" doesn't imply natural causes, not sure what you mean, Pip

You're misunderstanding what alleged means, I think. It being alleged doesn't mean anything with regards to being or not being murder. It just means the source of the description of what happened is some person or people claiming that was what went down, without actually proving it.
al·leged
əˈlejd/
adjective
(of an incident or a person) said, without proof, to have taken place or to have a specified illegal or undesirable quality.
"the alleged conspirators"
synonyms: supposed, so-called, claimed, professed, purported, ostensible, putative, unproven
"did Mr. Ramirez tell you what time this alleged crime took place?"
It doesn't imply that the story is false either, though. Just that it is unproven.
I actually booted it up on Steam to check. I don't see an option for the manual, no. I believe the PS3/PSP collection has the manuals, but I might be wrong.
But if you'd bought the actual game back in the day it came with the manual, obviously. And now you have that option if you want to be faithful to the experience, or just looking it up on a wiki or FAQ.
I'm the kind of person that always reads the manual before even turning the game on, and for our current manual-less games I always check online or ask first for anything I should know going in.

I'm the exact opposite. I dive right in, hope there's a tutorial, and hope the tutorial's not awful. Otherwise, figure it out as you go along!

The basics, though:
Tidus is good at hitting fast, ground creatures (like the dog-lookin' creatures) and has multiple skills that mess with the turn order
Wakka is super-accurate, so he's best at hitting flying creatures
Yuna is your healer and can summon Aeons if you just wanna nuke a fucker into oblivion
Lulu is the black mage and is great for killing flans and anything that has an elemental weakness
Rikku is the fastest character in the game; she doesn't do much damage, but she can Steal/Mug (which kills most machina instantly) and use a WAY larger variety of items to do any role you might need (also, her Mix Overdrive is the most powerful in the game)
Kimahri is...a blue mage and starts in the middle of the sphere grid, so you can make him into any type of character you want. Except it'll take him a long time until he's ever on par with the other characters, so you can just ignore him if you want and it won't matter.
Also, keep in mind that Wakka, Tidus and Rikku are the only ones that can fight underwater, so you'll want to keep those three levelled up
I just found him in the desert, and he repeatedly tries walking up a steep sand dune, sliding back down it, and repeating the process, finally shaking his head wondering "Why isn't this working?"
i can't wait for them to say "there's a new class coming to ff14" and everyone goes "yaaaay" and they say "it's blue mage" and everyone goes "......oh."

look
being clubbed to death is not natural causes
that is not an alleged murder
No no, he was clubbing so hard he died. Like twirling glow sticks, shots of snake juice, and just dub stepping as hard as a pope can.

Unless that's included in the Steam version
Is it?

The idea that Chrono Trigger came out a few days after the Mortal Kombat movie is odd to me
my brain cannot accept this
speaking of
we're getting a new album by yasunori mitsuda with new arrangements of chrono trigger and chrono cross songs to commemorate the occasion
Just for the record
Most SNES RPGs I've played communicate their systems clearly enough without need for the manual, so I'm still going to grumble about this
But thanks, I'll read through it later
You get all the content of the international version regardless, you only have to choose between Sphere Grids
The International Sphere Grid is tougher
...Yes?
Wait, first time playing FFX? You can switch out party members at any time
The only character that doesn't have a matching enemy type is Kimahri because he's worthless and blue mages are worthless

Standard is a little easier, I think, because I noticed some character (particularly Tidus) get more HP spheres earlier on.
In my short-lived expert grid playthrough, Tidus was made of goddamn paper. Even Rikku was thougher.
As for what everyone is best at, I give a rundown of it in my OP for the FFX HD thread I made when it was released

Fuck, yeah, I knew I was forgetting a party member
Right
Example of how dumb Kimahri is:
I just found him in the desert, and he repeatedly tries walking up a steep sand dune, sliding back down it, and repeating the process, finally shaking his head wondering "Why isn't this working?"
I'd really like a Chemist for a non-caster healer
Or a Red Mage or Geomancer for a caster tank
I can see nothing but enthusiasm when they finally add it. Which I figure they eventually will.
It was pretty great in XI.
Itd be hard to do in such a different mmo but I bet they could make something pretty dang cool.
