USA wedding vow renewals to look like a real wedding? (solved)
USA wedding vow renewals to look like a real wedding?
I have a friend that gone over to the USA and got married, at what ever the USA equivalent of a registry office is. So he is married
However his family doesn't know he is. He is having a big wedding (for show) when they come out on vacation to see him. It would break his mothers heart to know that this big ceremony is not a real wedding.
Where they are from legally some of the stuff you have to say in a marriage blessing or vow renewal will give the game away that he is already tied the knot. He would not be able to get away with it
But I don't know about America marriage law and what can and cant be said by the pastor if its not a "real" wedding
Is he going to get away with this or is there going to be a shit storm?
The pastor can say whatever the hell you want, assuming he doesn't have an ethical problem with being part of the charade. If the wedding has already been solemnized by the justice of the peace or whoever at the courthouse (which is probably what your friend did), and they have a valid, signed marriage license, the law doesn't care what you do or say at your play-wedding.
courthouse yeah thats what he did. cool. over here you make it known its not a real wedding if its not etc. sweet wont have to pack a stab vest. thanks mate, lock this one up

Why even hire a real pastor? Just have someone go through the motions. Sign a thing. Etc. I'd contact the local playhouse or theatre and see if an actor wants to make $100 for an hour of his time.
