I dunno, I just thought it would be fun to give a prize to the person that traveled the furthest to get to pax. I dunno what the prize would be. But I am debating on giving up my life sized clone trooper cardboard cut out... it scares me every time i walk in my room.

just a thought.

edit: haha wait.. it would be possibly be hard to return home with it if you win... let me think this over.

I think an appropriate prize would be a set of weights.

The largest and heaviest we can find.

Okay, but will you be heading back to Kuwait immediately after PAX? I think that's what they're going for here.

Well this beats me, but for what it's worth, I'm coming from England, and I'm going back via Australia.

I can only hope that the next post by aechean is a picture of his unit's badge that reads "WANG: Always ready to serve."

That is fantastic. I am going to petition my unit to change our patch.

I will actually be returning from my tour right before PAX, but I'm sure I'll be back to this wonderful part of the world sometime within the next two years O_o

You might want to check on his latin before you start that petition.

I'm sure he's joking. I don't think they'd want something that looks like a cock-and-balls as their patch.

    or would they?

Yes, rather. I took a year of classical Latin, and 'Semper Cinctum' means 'Always surrounded' or 'Always clothed' lol! It can have the connotation of 'Always dressed for action' but that would seem potentially ambiguous or awkward. I would suggest 'Semper Penetrandum' for 'Always Penetrating' (I took me a fair amount of time to refresh my limited Latin to the point of figuring out an accusitive gerund for a first conjugal verb). However, somebody should probably check me too, because one year's study over five years ago does not a significant Latin scholar make.

I think he said he was going for "Always Alert"

That would be some form of "Vigilans" that I don't want to go to the work of figuring out for sure.

Aye, that I was. The definition I took said:
accingo -cingere -cinxi -cinctum [to gird on] a weapon; [to equip , arm] a person; with reflex., or in pass., [to arm oneself], hence [to make oneself ready].

I've updated it with yours, but if I can find one with a proper "always ready", I'd love to go with that one.

Thanks, by the way, for helping with this!

Ah, you forgot the '-' denotes a continuation from a root prefix or whatever, so you meant 'accintum' not just 'cinctum'. 'Accintum' would be just fine and would more clearly mean 'ready' or 'prepared' (I'm not saying that's the right or wrong case, because I'm so long out of Latin I don't have instincts for that anymore and I'd have to look it all up again.)
