This just in: Cell phone threads are the new Girl threads.
Searched and found like, 8 cell phone threads, none of them on this sort of topic though.
So, cell phones. Never had one, just got a job, and i'm tired of having to ask to borrow one of my parents' when I go somewhere, so I'm thinking of buying one of my own.
How much can I expect to pay for phone/service? Im looking just for a phone. I have a mp3 player, and a DS, I need neither music nor games on said phone. If its a brick with cellular service, im just peachy with that. I also dont talk on the phone alot either, so how much can I expect to spend on minutes and whatnot, or whatever the form of time spent talking is. Basically, I need me some cell phones 101.

You sound like an american with your spending stuff on minutes and what not but I'm of no use to you.
Other things other people will need is where are you (as I understand some american companies do some places well other companies will not)
Do you want a camera in it? I actually have a "good" camera in it 3.2 and I find it usefull because of it.
Do you want a speaker phone? I find it a usefull feature while driving.
As far as camera/speakerphone, would depend on the price. Wouldnt want a camera in it unless it was of decent quality. Not pullitzer prize winning or anything, but something that could be printed out and put into a photo album, not some grainy miscolored thumbnail. And even then, not too expensive.
Same with speakerphone. Extra 20-30 bucks, cool. 80 for a speakerphone though? Nah.
Just a quick warning for you - signing up for cell service generally requires a credit check. If you don't have good credit (or credit at all), you'll need a parent to sign for you, or you'll have to pay quite a bit ahead of time.
That said, a basic phone plan should run you no more than $45 after taxes, fees, etc. That's actually probably a bit on the high side too, if you don't need any add-ons.
For reference, I carry a Cingular phone and a US Cellular phone. The USCell is my work phone. I've had good luck with both, but I prefer my Cingular because of services and a better phone selection (GSM). I'm pretty happy with both carriers, so I'd recommend either.

I don't believe it - I'm on my THIRD PS3, and my FIRST XBOX360. What the heck?
