Ahhh, the dark days of Turok. Does anyone even remember this game any more?

    I do!

I had to convince my parents to let me get it because it was rated mature.

I remember it even more for the vomit-inducing migraine it gave me.

I remember owning the first one before I actually had a controller pak (memory card), so I got really really good at the first level!

You know what, it's time someone spoke up on Turok (pt1)'s behalf.

Yes Turok had huge fog, but it also had insane graphics for the time. Seeing a huge dinosaur come stomping towards you through said fog was amazing.

Also the later weapons were some prety fireworks.

Getting to fight dinosaurs in 3d generates a lot of goodwill.

Unfortunately, that was about all it had going for it. The fact that the game was secretly a shitty platformer in first-person perspective was one of the biggest bait-and-switches of the N64 era. I wanted Doom with dinosaurs, not Bubsy 3D FPS with occasional action. Why is most my time spent falling down pits and not shooting rockets at triceratops?

Yeah, Turok was legitimately bad even for the time. There were relatively few dinosaur encounters other than raptors (which mostly just felt like regular mobs). I think there was one T Rex in the whole game? The last boss if I recall.

The weapons WERE cool though, well worth a weapons cheat to see them all.
