I support anyone, anywhere, undermining Patreus
I just depledged (after over a year) to join Sirius to get some pack hounds. I don't know if I'll do any others.
Yeah I'm Unicorn November Charlie.
They did a really good job of making all the different words sound natural when strung together like a real person is saying it. Sometimes rarely I can hear the computerized aspect of it, a word cut off a little too soon or something, but it's generally very good.
Had this not already been claimed, I would have dubbed this moon Seasonalaffectivedisordia.

Forget ARM, Alpha Romeo Mike is a bad ass nickname on its own.

The general basic setup is lasers on the small weapons, kinetic on the larger ones. For my Cobra, I go 2 small beam lasers (gimbal) and 2 medium multicanons (gimbal or fixed). The small hardpoints are at a bit of an awkward angle in the Cobra, such that you'll want to be a bit above your target, or slightly pitched up. This is because they are underneath the ship, and the ship is almost totally flat.
Beam lasers draw a lot from the distributor, but I feel the damage they do to shields is highly worth it. To balance it out, multis draw very little power from the distributor. If you don't really want to worry about distributor draw, you can swap out the beams for pulse. I don't recommend putting kinetic weapons on your smaller hardpoints (unless you're going all kinetic), because the way armor works tends to make small munitions much less effective against bigger, harder hulled ships than you would think.
[edit]- Also, smaller multis have small clip sizes, and waiting on the reload constantly is annoying AF.

At the moment, yes. Not sure if they will be 'tuned' or not, but they can quickly knock out external modules if you target them (for example, destroy their weapons or thrusters).
They have somewhat small ammo capacity, and require a 'lock on' period, but yes, they are effective.
They are pretty crap against shields though (and no damage to modules with shields up), so you'll want something to take down shields fast. They also can be countered with point defense turrets, so you need enough to get through those (once you do, the PDTs tend to be destroyed).
All weapons do full damage against shields.
Kinetic weapons do more damage to hulls than thermal weapons.
Small weapons suffer a damage-reducing penalty against medium and large hulls.
Medium weapons suffer a penalty against large hulls.
Large and huge weapons do full damage to all.
It's set up this way so that big ships with big guns are more effective against each other, without being able to vaporize small ships in one shot.

Also, when I'm in the outfitter store I can't tell if a weapon requires ammo and how much you can hold/how much it costs. Is there a way to check that out?
The one exception is RailGuns with the Plasma Slugs modification. Which is delicious and I want them.
I've been at the beach since the 16th but have kept up with some of the videos released by FD at GamesCom. 2.2 reaction: WOW!!!! I can't wait for this stuff to hit, it's going to be amazing! Also THARGOIDS!!!
I sort of wish they'd just put QOL stuff out in smaller patches rather than padding out the big updates with them.
ALSO there are two updates still to go in this season and at the current rate they won't get them out this year. That's pretty bad for them! Their business model seems to be based somewhat around a yearly season release. My guess is that they'll double up multi crew and character creator, because I can't see how you do one without the other. Charactor creator on its own is a super fucking dull update. They could maybe get both out in Decemberish. Mainly I want to already know what season 3 is going to be like.
More expensively than the BMW ending
I don't think we'll see 2.3 and 2.4 this year. Maybe 2.3 in Dec but that's it IMO. I think it is entirely acceptable for them to have longer seasons than one year, instead focusing on quality.
Sometimes it seems like FD can do no right though, no matter what they add people seem unsatisfied.
Frontier also had a really rocky start to their updates. Wings was the poster-child for functionality that should have been in the game and Powerplay was the poster child for a horrible idea that some guy on the team kept insisting would be amazing so they had to waste a whole dev cycle on it. They really raised their game with this season but the stink of those early updates lingers.
However I think we might be moving towards that now. The new station types like shipyards and whatnot could be used as defend / attack objectives in missions along with cap ships for powerplay. If they do that, then it will finally lend some feeling of actual presence to PP missions and make you feel like it's a real war. We'll see if they do this, it's certainly no easy task I'm sure but would IMO finally make PP into an engaging experience.
Edit: I think I'm now at a point where I should start making certain goals to give my playing some sense of direction. I'm not all that interested in trading (though I'm happy to do trading missions), I have no interest in mining either. My as yet very vague plan is to get myself and my Cobra to a larger high-tech system and spend some time doing missions and bounty hunting so I can upgrade the equipment I have. Any other suggestions for fun goals to set yourself?

If you get on an Eagle's six o'clock, drop its shields and then drill it with well placed MC fire it'll go up really fast.
Wow. I have never even heard of that happening. Always knew it was possible, but the odds...
Seekers cap at medium unfortunately. That said an Itano Circus from an Anaconda would be an amazing sight.
So, I had to figure out how to transfer fuel. It was fun saving him as he was stranded in the middle of space. Felt like a true hero.
After of course I jumped to him, realized I didn't restock limpets right the first time and had to go back to the station to buy them and then go back to fill him up >>
