So any douchebag who finds a powerup can become Lord of Dark and Unholy Vader?
Also Jesus Hell, stop leaving pieces of your essence laying around Tychronos, Gabrulovitz be using it for that dark art stuff.
There's this weird sort of disconnect between the front and back of Tycho's hair. It's like the two sides of his hairstyle exist in different universes. This isn't a slam towards the art. I'm pretty sure Tycho exists on several planes at once. Perhaps this is why Gabe's mojo seems to be working on him. I can see stressors such as being kicked out of one's AT-AT weakening intradimensional bonds. If I were Gabe I'd be careful. Tycho does know his true name after all.
I thought it was weird it was a power up and not a reward for playing good, but I guess they want to "even the field" and give everyone the chance to have a trophy, even if they're terrible and they just throw their trophy in the trash and then light the trash on fire and burn down their entire home.

Honestly this may be one of my favorite comics they've ever done, in the sense that I won't ever remember what the comic was about but I will remember that Gabe and Tycho carry on casual conversations about pop culture while practicing the dark arts. Definite parallels to my own life.

Well, it's either "even the field" and deal with complaints about that, or deal with complaints about tilting the scales too heavily in favor of anyone who gets off to a good start in the round.
I've actually not played the old Battlefront (for shame!). But I always have a hard time pinning down what sort of game it is when people describe it. The idea of "powering up" into Darth Vader just sounds really weird.
Also, I'd put this in the top five of "characters doing something completely unrelated" comics.
As much mystique as Darth Vader has, and as much of a Star Wars fan as I've been for 35 years, I've never imaged being Darth Vader on a battlefield. In every movie, he's the guy who shows up after all the resistance is dead or routed. Yes, he does wade in for the big space brawl in Star Wars, but I just don't see him in the fray. Boba Fett seems like a way better combat choice.
The phrase "being AT-AT" reads like a typo to me, which is meant to be "being in AT-AT". But I'm not sure. Maybe Tycho meant something deep, like OREWA GUNDAMU DA!
"Why aren't you Darth Vader?"
"I ask myself that question every morning."
Lost it right there. I love it when they come out swinging with an exchange like that in the first panel.
I have played the BattleFront Beta and it looks amazing and seems to play very well. In the Assault Map, which takes place on Hoth during the Imperial Attack you can pick up power ups both for the rebels and the Imperials. Like Pilot an Awing fighter, Tie Fighter, or the AT-AT. They are scattered around the map and you have a set time to use them before they disappear from your inventory. I like this better in my opinion than just ordering an airstrike ala Call of Duty. So you can also find the Luke or Vader power ups. I have not seen a Luke vs Vader Fight yet while not cannon, I don't think anyway it would be awesome. Also this is Beta and they could tweak how these power ups get used in game. So it could turn into like a kill streak system potentially.
Luke was in no way dressed appropriately for Hoth, so if the AT-AT hadn't gotten him, the temperature would have.
Yeah I kinda wish Luke was in his Hoth outfit and had a blue saber... but maybe they thought he'd be too hard to distinguish visually from the regular Rebel troopers.
I feel like the main thing holding me back from fully embracing Battlefront (from the beta) is the sheer volume of times I get killed by someone from halfway across the map, with what's essentially a SMG. If it's by someone specced for range and accuracy, then fair enough, but I kind of feel like every gun has too much accuracy and no damage drop-off over distance.

I experience that in every online FPS I try. It takes me two full clips or equivalent to down a guy, whereas I get killed in a quarter of the time. I believe the solution, according to people I've played with, is "lol git gud newb"
The only game I've ever been any good at online is the Space Marine game that came out a few years ago. Maybe being third person helped, I don't know.
I tried Walker Assault for the first time last night. I don't like it when people become Luke/Vader. Not because it's always some idiot controlling the power-up, but rather because it completely breaks the balance of the game. This is a first person shooter about Stormtroopers and Rebel scum. Throw a Jedi/Sith in the mix and all of a sudden your ground forces are obsolete, even if it's just for a little while.
When this game goes live, will it be possible to have game servers with Hero characters disabled?
I never got why they let people playing a 'competitive' multiplayer game choose between first and third person. The fact is you have a huge advantage when you're playing in third person vs first. You can see stuff first person players can't. I'm not a super hard core fps kind of dude but that would be like letting people go into third person in Team Fortress 2. Even I can see how that would give an unfair advantage. It would change the very nature of the game.

"The power to destroy a planet is paltry compared to the power of the F-is that a missile? Shit."
