Alec Baldwin is amazing

listen to the first like 30 seconds, and then pause. and think about it. think about who he's talking to. concerning what. what the situation might be. what the weather might be like. think about it and let your imagination run wild.

and then, THEN, keep listening to the end.

i nominate him for several awards i'm sure i haven't even heard of yet.

no, you can't.

Baldwin is a pretty awesome dude.

One of my favorite parts of the Departed was when he went off on that guy because he messed up the sting.

Whatever. You don't talk to a kid like that. If he's got issues with his ex, then he should take it out on her not his daughter.

I don't know, it seems that he places (or placed) a lot into these phonecalls, as it was probably one of the only times he could talk to his daughter, the mere fact that the calls were planned, proves this. So for her to just blow it off on more than one occasion is pretty disrespectful.

I don't agree with the way he talked to his daughter but it sounds like he hit a breaking point. What we don't know is how many times he called and left sane rational voice mails without an answer before snapping.

Oh no, she was disrespectful so it's ok to rant at her over the phone about how she's a rude pig. Christ, she's only 11. You guys are acting like the only options are ranting at her like a fucking lunatic over the phone or not disciplining her at all. I expect her to be immature, she's just a kid. He's an adult and should be able to control himself instead of basically throwing the equivalent of a tantrum. He's setting a great fucking example.

The kid is the child of two very high paid Hollywood actors. It would take a miracle for the child to not be spoiled.

he doesn't see his daughter except a few times a month because the mother has custody. and when he tries to call her to talk to her, she doesn't pick up the phone. (and what we don't know is that she probably gives him an attitude the entire time when they DO talk)

it's taken my friends YEARS to talk to their father again after hating them since they were little. and as it turns out, their father always wanted to see them, it's their mom that didn't want him around and would tell my friend since he was 9 that his father didn't want him.

edit: to clarify, that meant that whenever his dad DID show up, he'd give him an attitude for not being around all the time, and be a jerk to his dad, and his dad would flip out at him, at the mom, and just leave because his own family is treating him like crap.

nah i think javen got it

he had scheduled calls just to stay in touch with her and she continually blows him off

im sure this would have happened quite a few times before he got this mad about it
maybe he did go a bit overboard but he was probably already at a point where he had told her he was getting upset about it and still she didnt care

All the more reason to not blow up and go apeshit on his daughter. What's it going to accomplish in the long term? All it's going to show her is that it's ok to verbally abuse those underneath her. Great.
