Break the fourth wall with your DS stylus and annoy a cartoon duck
Yeah yeah yeah, licensed game lol. But this one's got a damn cool idea. Remember the classic cartoon Duck Amok? Sure ya do. It's the one where an animator's pencil draws all sorts of crazy things onto Daffy Duck for seven minutes. Well, apparently a new game from Warner Bros. interactive for the DS will let you be that animator's pencil.
Fuck yes. I have no idea if the execution will live up to it, but I'm damned happy someone's trying.
Developed by WayForward Technologies, Looney Tunes: Duck Amuck asks players to compete against Daffy in a series of mini-game challenges. Players will work their way through several mini-games while pestering the crap out of the irritable Daffy. The game is set to feature wireless ad hoc multiplayer, allowing players to team-up against Daffy, or battle each other in head-to-head competitions.

This is gonna rock so hard. I am a bit dissapointed that it is only minigames, as it would've been cool to see Daffy try to get through a platformer sequence or something whilst you tormented him...
Or better yet, multiplayer where one person was the cartoonist, and the other was Daffy, trying to escape said cartoonist.

I'm really looking forward to the day where I can draw a tunnel wall on a sheer rock face, allow a speeding bird to pass through, then having a coyote slam into it at high speed.
That or stop, check to see if it's real and have him run over by a train of my choosing.
While waiting for that, I will play the hell out of this.
This sounds incredible. And Wayforward Technologies is one of my favorite small developers, so I have high hopes.
Ooh wait up, these are the people who did Shantae right?

O_O They are?
Shit. Between this, and Vicarious Visions doing the Transformers games... Holy shit, did someone say this year would be dry for the DS outside of Pokemon? Because that was a bold faced lie.

Just in case this is a generational thing (an entire era of children didn't have the joy of growing up with this cartoon), just watch the original.
They ought to show the looney tunes golden collections in grade school.

Also get off my lawn! :rotate:
But dude, the Looney Tunes cartoons promote violence and desensitize children!
And how.
My god, I know that it's heavily dosed with nostalgia, but I can't remember the last time I've been so entertained a cartoon like that. I remembered vritually every line of dialogue.

The best bugs bunny cartoon is Rabbit of Seville or whatever it's called....
Also there's that one about the dog and the kitten where the dog thinks the kitten was killed and made into cookies. I used to cry because of that cartoon. The dog puts the kitten cookie on his back and gets really sad. It's not really a bugs bunny cartoon though.
Don't take this the wrong way, but... I'm not sure how many kids would like that.
Yeah, watching it again now ... it's strange out of context. Still, it's better than a knock-off anime rip-off, and at least you get some classical music exposure.
Anyway, to the Duck Amuck game -- it's really one of those ideas that makes complete sense and should have been done way earlier. I don't know how successful it'll be if it's slopped off as a shovelware job, but one never knows.

Both classics. In fact, I'd say Rabbit of Seville is better than What's Opera Doc.... What's Opera is clever and pretty, but never actually funny. Rabbit of Seville is effin' hilarious yet every bit as classy.

It I]What's Opera, Doc?[/I was the first cartoon short to be deemed "culturally significant" by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry. Duck Amuck and One Froggy Evening were also later inducted into the registry, making Chuck Jones the only animator with three shorts thus recognized.
Wow, thats pretty impressive.
I'll be keeping an eye out for this game as well. Though Sam Sheepdog and Ralph Wolf were some of my more favorite cartoons.

Heh I like both, but yeah, I think Rabbit of Seville is more 'entertaining' See my post above on suggestions for games based on these shorts :rotate:
Damn that animation sucks (comparatively at least). Smells like Flash!
Well the old stuff was hand drawn.
Was that flash released by WB interactive? I could see someone whipping that up in flash relatively fast, although maybe not that good. The lack of promo stuff, watermarks, the like lead me to believe it's suspect.

This reminds me just how far Looney Tunes has fallen from grace. You can still catch the old cartoons on TV, and they still stand up today. Take for instance the old Foghorn Leghorn bits. Still hilarious. I saw one of the newer made ones (don't know how new, but they were referencing The Matrix among other stuff, so recent) and it was just so... vapid and soulless. No joy at all. Even the Road Runner/Coyote stuff was off. It really bummed me out and pity them as I reached for the remote.
I remember reading something Chuck Jones apparently said. In that a true test of a cartoon is that you should be able to watch it with the sound completely off, and still get every joke. And I know for a fact that's true, because one time I was at this bar, they had the old cartoons playing on the TV for some bizzare reason. Even without being able to hear a sound, they were still pure gold.

my favorite was when bugs battled a gremlin in Falling Hare
and when daffy and porky took over for the stork in Baby Bottleneck. which they never show on repeats. Daffy's hat made it.

If I'm remembering right, both of those are awesome. The Falling Hare one ends where the plane doesn't crash because it runs out of gas right?
I was also a big fan of the Bugs-Taz and Daffy-Taz pairings and any of the older Road Runner shorts. The newer ones just don't seem to have 'it' whatever the hell 'it' was :rotate:

I am a freaking nerd.
Off-the-peg minigames, however, can gtfo.

Best idea ever
I actually liked that one better, because Bugs never got tormented before and quite frankly he had it coming

It should be mandatory to show Duck Amuck and What's Opera, Doc (aka "Kill the Wabbit") in all public and private schools.
