2012 stamps?

So, I am admittedly not as across Pinny Arcade as I would like to be.

While standing in a queue at PAX Aus on Saturday, I heard some discussion about stamps on the backs of certain pins reading 2012.

Is there anything particular I should know about them or are people taking an interest in them for the heck of it?

Pins with the 2012 stamp are the first batch produced for Pinny Arcade. I believe the following pins have 2012 versions:

    - Core Set 1.0
    - Merch 1.0
    - CTS Gabe
    - Zombie Tycho
    - Pinny Arcade Logo (aka "Enforcer" pin)

All these pins are also available in 2013 versions. There has been discussion of the relative scarcity of the 2012 vs. 2013 versions. My sense is that most people who are not variant collectors don't care all that much.

At this point in time there are 11 pins that have been reprinted. 6 of those are the original core set (print runs in 2012 and 2013) and the first gabe/tycho staff pins (also 2012/13). Depending on the type of collector you are, you may not care, however a small number of us are extreme completionist's and like to collect all pins including variants.

Pinnypals.com is a community resource that has a listing of all known pins and includes which ones have variants.

The only one that I recall being semi-rare is the 2012 variant of Merch. It was only available around Christmas 2012 if you ordered $100 of stuff on the PA store, and PAX East 2013 (where it sold out iirc). Most people don't give a shit about variants, I'm honestly wondering why I do.

One pin in my Core 1.0 set is 2012 while the others are 2013. My nose won't bleed as long as I don't think about it too much.

I mostly just noticed that my CTS Gabe and Zombie Tycho had a 2012 on them and was wondering what the deal was.

I just like collecting them. I'm not much fussed on variants.
