Strong bitter taste evokes an actual involuntary physical reaction for me. I get kind of a shiver feeling and then I kind of shudder, with a few quick shakes of my head side to side.
A little late to the Egg Nog/Nog from DS9 jokes, but some interesting news. Aron Eisenberg, the actor who played Nog, is getting a kidney transplant on December 29th. He was apparently born with just one kidney, and that one was pretty fucked up, and was replaced when he was 17. Now he's 46 and needs a new one. There's still a Gofundme page up to help with expenses for him and for the donor, although it looks like they passed their initial goal.
Realizing lately that I don't really trust or respect basically any of the moderators here. So, good luck with life, friends! Hit me up on Twitter @DesertLeviathan
Can we get Steve Harvey to announce the winner of the Iowa primary, only to interrupt Bush's victory speech with the news that Trump actually won?
How many friggin Bush's do you all have , are they made in a factory and are released in time for primaries?
Did you accidentally undercook Jeb?
Jeb!'s been in Florida, so if anything he's overdone.
Actually, his detachment and confusion start to make a lot of sense if you assume a severe case of post-Florida shell shock. His advisers haven't convinced him yet to redirect mental priority away from staying vigilant for Bath Salt Zombies.

Simple yet delicious oven roasted broccoli:
Generously apply olive oil and lemon pepper (or spice of your choice, because food is a wonderland). Bake at 425 for 20-25 minutes.
Slay those that covet your broccoli and devour dish wholesale.

Artichoke hearts are great on pizza. Top tier ingredient.
There's a really nice pasta sauce that I like to make that is slices of broccoli, lightly fried strips of salami, creme fraiche and parmesan. If you want it to be even nicer, you can add a spoonful or two of roux.
Its not a pizza anymore at that point, might as well call it "artichoke flat-pie".
What, no
You just cut up the artichoke hearts into small bite sized pieces and put them on as you would any other pizza topping.

I made spinach and artichoke dip for Christmas eve. Something I saw on the Internet that looked cool so I tried it by putting thawed-frozen dinner rolls 2-high around the edge of a circular Pyrex pie plate and dumped the uncooked dip in the center and then threw it in the oven at 350°F for about 40 minutes and then this happened.
I am in love with this now. I'm brushing the dinner rolls with garlic oil next time for sure!
Found out that a Fresh Market near me sells HUGE artichokes. Take Spikey Handgrenade, put in bowl of water, microwave for 6 minutes, and you have a delicious snack that will both stab AND burn your fingers (unless you wuss out and wait for it to cool off a little).
Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.

Prosecutor who declined to press any charges made a point of saying that Tamir Rice looked older than 12 (as though that is relevant in determining whether or not someone should be shot on sight), and emphasized that police couldn't tell whether or not the gun was real from a distance (as though that is relevant in an open-carry state).
It would be one thing if the case went to trial, arguments were made, and the officers were deemed innocent. It'd still be a shitty thing, but at least it would maintain the illusion of justice.
Here? With the prosecutor playing this devil's advocate, "Well, we can see both sides" shit? That's not a prosecutor's fucking job. When do they do that for average citizens? They are so clearly protecting law enforcement officers that it's absolutely nauseating. To call this a miscarriage of justice is to imply that justice was even attempted. This is a whole 'nother level of what can only be deemed "goddamned fucking bullshit."
They are a TREMENDOUS pain in the fuckin ass though.

I have a difficult time actually processing this kind of shit because when I do properly think about it, it makes me really mad. And then I think about how little I can do about the whole thing and it makes me even madder. Just, fuck.

It is saying that "fear of black people" is so valid a line of defense that officers needn't even be tried. There doesn't even need to be a discussion, because it's so inherently and obviously "true."
There are a great many folks who try to deny the white supremacy America was built around and for, and it blows my fucking mind.

They are also the self-same people who got their power cut off once for non-payment so they know everything there is to know about living off welfare or assistance, i.e. I was broke once for about three weeks so I know what it means to work hard and get ahead in the world. As someone who has been temporarily extremely fucking poor to the point of homelessness and pregnant without healthcare, it blows my mind that anyone can walk away from the experience without a whole lot more empathy than they went into it.
And it seems like all is dying, and would leave the world to mourn
I really hate that conversation of I did it why can't you?
Because I have no one to help or rely on even then that is just an excuse
There are people I work with who constantly push me about having a degree and working a shit job When I tell them I cannot as I lack the experience they want [or they are just being rather obtuse in saying No and go away]
It's really just soul crushing to deal with the no hope and seeing there is no chance of freeing yourself from that series of problems

This is the exact same bullshit as happened with Mike Brown, the prosecutor acting like a goddamn defense attorney, passing arguments to the grand jury on why Darren Wilson should not be charged
like, there are people whose job it is to argue on behalf of the accused. The prosecutor is not one of those people.
Prosecutors afraid to lose police trust and afraid to fight police guilds.
Police officers trained to fear rather than to lead.
The prosecutor's arguments might have held weight with me if it were a larger toy gun like that AK-47 incident in California, but being smaller makes it more likely to be a toy in my mind.
Why are people targeting the police officer when the 911 dispatcher was told "toy gun"and reported "gun? "
Why do they call it black lives matter when all these protests give only the blandest reference to the lives of people killed in these...these....damn...murders, foolish acts, miscarriages of justice all seem inadequate to describe the incidents of this nature.
Anyway, really bothersome that the black lives matter protests only address the victims as black bodies rather than lives cut short by another's wickedness and/or weakness.
But in the other hand, they have been quite successful in sustaining the energy behind these protests and rechanneling weeks and months later.
Strong bitter taste evokes an actual involuntary physical reaction for me. I get kind of a shiver feeling and then I kind of shudder, with a few quick shakes of my head side to side.
Your parents forced bitter medicine into your mouth as a baby and you would shake your head to avoid taking it. Bitter tastes bring back this memory and trigger the physical behavior you displayed then.
At least that's why I think I did it for most of my life.

Mishearing something over the phone or misspeaking is a vastly less serious mistake than shooting someone. Regardless of what the dispatcher reported, the person with a live firearm needs to be able to properly evaluate a situation on the spot and make good judgements based on circumstance. The dispatcher is not where the blame lies here.
