* - The Lancia is slightly overpowered compared to the rest of the field. Build/pick accordingly for your skill level or expect either a PI nerf (probably ~ -10 PI) or a Power Handicap Bucket.

Track list will be added/up by Tuesday. Expect at least 1 night race a week to put those extra headlights to use. Plan is for this to go 2 weeks (this Thursday and then next Thursday), with an unlikely, but possible, extension per demand.
Michel and I have initial plans for the following full Series, but want to wait for news on what the Porsche pack is bringing before finalizing/balancing it. I know Arctic has expressed interest in taking another shot at a Special (the definition of "Special" is up to you :P ) Series. So, something should be ready with a faster turn-around once this is wrapped.
Has anyone else been having trouble with viewing leader boards? Eclibull, I figured I would chase your ghost around Nurburgring GP to get better at the track. However it showed that absolutely no one on my friends list had a single time on that course in C class. I've seen some problems where some of you guys show up but the times just don't seem right. Other times the leader boards say they aren't available.
Edit: Does this game's modeling of drivetrain loss in AWD really suck that much power? I was tuning a B600 s2000 with 409hp 279 tq. My B575 celica with 347hp 335tq with a little less weight and it gets a 0-100 time that is 2.7 seconds slower. The hp/torque curves are not too much different.
That seems pretty egregious.

so funny story, my internet has been down since last night. I finally got things done around the house, finished reading some books I'd been meaning to for months, and cleaned up a handful of my project spaces.

I'm very curious to see exactly what "slimmed-down" entails, and how much of the full game might be available as purchasable content. Forza was the only thing I was even debating buying an Xbox One for though, so it's not the smartest move on their part if I can get most or all of what I want out of the game on PC.

A new track has also been released: Virginia International Raceway. (I can not, for the life of me, find any info one way or the other if that is only included in the pack or not. It looks like it is so yay, looks like we won't be running that).
As a side note, a warning about a game-killing bug in this update from Mechberg:
Hi folks,
On Tuesday (3/1/16) we will release the next content update for Forza Motorsport 6. While you'll need to stay tuned for details about what this content update will include (won't be long now!), I wanted to share the news of an unfortunate issue with this CU that we are aware of and working to resolve.
Tomorrow's update will unfortunately introduce an issue with the 2015 Ford #02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Mk XXVI Daytona Prototype, a DLC car from February's Alpinestars Car Pack. With this issue, players who use this car running the Level 3 weight reduction upgrade/tune will experience a game-crashing bug and be forced to wait for the next content update before playing again.
We want to let players know about this ahead of time so they can avoid this situation; for that reason we are recommending that FM6 players avoid using the 2015 Ford #02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Mk XXVI Daytona Prototype until we can address this issue in a subsequent content update. It's ok to keep the car in your FM6 garage, just avoid driving it until the next CU. The team is busy working on this subsequent content update now and I hope to have more details on when we will be able to launch that CU in the very near future.
Thanks,
Brian

Aaaaand conformation VIR is exclusive to people who buy the Porsche pack.
Sigh.
Fuck that. Anyone know if the pack will be cheaper to VIP members? I can't find info about that anywhere and I don't feel like paying $20 for it.
I won't be on tonight because I'll be out caucusing. You Massachusetts-ians better be voting too or else I will have Michael run into you more than usual.

it really fucking sucks forza 6 is just not being ported to win10 as crossbuy. like, why not if you're introducing this apex bullshit.

$20 for all, no discount for VIP.
Pricing error in Canadian favor as it's currently $19.99 for us as well. Given the going rate it should be $25. Dunno if this is a random break for us or an accident that'll get changed, but as I happened to have $20 in xbox credit I've picked it up.

Also, VIR is pretty good. I feel like it runs how CotA wishes it did ... Like a baby of Suzuka and Road Atlanta, with the long-lost 3rd mulsanne chicane making an appearance. It's both more deadly, and more interesting than its brethren!
If the rest of the core group gets the pack, I'll get it too so I can race on VIR.
Some people have already said they aren't getting it.
I am in no way slightly selfishly discouraging people from getting it so I don't have to race on what has quickly become my most hated track in the game, ever. Nope.
But seriously; Joe, Michel and I spent half an hour before everyone got on talking about how much we hate that course in all it's arrangements and would rather spend the entire night on Brands Hatch than race on it. I do not find it a fun track, at all, it is cruel in a way that is not the right kind of challenging and visually it may be the most boring track they've ever had. On the other hand, a lot of the Porsche are very fun to drive (though I greatly dislike the stock 918 they throw you in to start the single player), but unless you 20-Dollars-Want them, I'd say it's not worth it.
Thanks for the review. I definitely don't have the want for $20 worth of porsches. Also, if you ever consider doing an entire night of Brands Hatch, I will be forced to punch you through the internet.
No, I am not really communist. Yes, it is weird that I use this name.
I did a few test laps on rain Ring and I bet most people will go off a little bit but it seems like less of a clusterfuck than the last time we tried to do it with more rwd type cars. We could also try and do it with damage off. I think either night or rain will be dangerous and will probably lead to more than one person DNFing.

Night's the plan right now. We tested on Tuesday and it went okay (with damage off). Whether we run it on Cosmetic or a endurance race on Sim can always be a game-time decision. Same with rain.

I recorded a lap of VIR for anyone who was curious and didn't already have the pack.
That honestly looks like fun to me. It definitely looks like it would take a bit getting used to the turns over crests and off camber corners. Even if tire walls block the view going around a corner that seems like something that would not be a problem after some practice. What is it about the course that people hate?

So what was the upcoming series idea? Mid engine 60's cars?
It's not quite ready. Needs more balancing.
If anyone is interested in helping Michel and I with testing, the cars being considered for a target PI of A700 are:
1966 Ford GT40 MkII (Currently slightly underpowered)
1967 Ferrari 330 P4 (Currently possibly in the middle)
1968 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale (Currently impossibly overpowered on certain tracks)
and maybe the 1960 Porsche 718 RS 60 (Starts at a vastly lower PI but can comfortably reach the target PI without any swaps).
I can get identical times on 'ring GP with all 4. Michel is, using the Ferrari as the base time, currently showing the Ford slow by around a second and the Alfa 2-3 seconds faster around Watkins. More testing is needed.
Are you guys ready for Super Tuesday Two: Forza Elections?
P.S. I like the idea that was thrown around on party chat where someone suggested we do affordable ~70s sports cars like the datsun 510. If you guys are close to setting up the mid engine 60's cars then that's cool too.

Balance discussion are occurring right now about both possibilities. There is some disagreement over rules as well, but it's being worked on. The 70s cars might be simpler to finish up at this point (with a few issues that can be fixed post-shake down) and save my precious 60's Mid-Engines for more fine tuning and balancing. I figure I'll have something settled and written up by the end of this week at the latest, barring this week being the week Michel is out of town.
