I've recently posted a thread about the possibility of using Remote Desktop functionality to control an HTPC.
I've now installed Microsoft's RD app on my iPad and tried to RD my main PC, which is running Windows 10, just to see whether and how well it runs. However, the app couldn't find my PC. Though I've entered the right IP, nada. In my computer's preferences, I've got Remote Desktop activated - but compared to the websites I've found that give instructions on how to get a Remote Desktop running, I seem to be lacking the function "Select users...", which is my only indication of what might be off (it's not in the advanced options either).
Any ideas what I could do to get this running? If I can't even get a connection going, the whole RD idea is a non-starter, so any help would be much appreciated.

Windows Home Edition: ... yup. I kinda suspected it might be something like this, but... meh.
I hear Teamviewer might work, and Unified Remote might do some (if not most) of what I'd want to do. Also, reading up some more on MediaMonkey, which I use, it seems that any DLNA Remote app would allow me to play music on it, without me having to switch on the TV that'd be hooked up to the HTPC.
Another case of me overthinking things, probably. Well, Remote Desktop, you were a nice idea while you lasted.
Thanks, guys, for the info!

Windows 10 Home Edition does not support hosting remote desktop sessions.
