In the war for exclusivity the PS3 might have recently lost a pivotal battle. This is still a pretty big might however because if the following were true then why the hell are other sites not discussing this? That said, the PS3Center news post about this does actually seem pretty legit and apparently the word came directly from someone that is working for Square Enix. I still probably won't be entirely convinced until it is reported somewhere else as well but take a look for yourself.

Square Enix Confirms FFXIII Is Not Exclusive To PS3
In news that is sure to rock the gaming world it has been confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII, the blockbuster RPG highly anticipated by millions of fans of the series, will not be an exclusive game for the PlayStation 3 console.
The Final Fantasy XIII project as of right now consists of two games for the PlayStation 3 as well as a mobile game. Motomu Toriyama of Square Enix has come out and made the confirmation that other consoles will be receiving Final Fantasy XIII on top of the PlayStation 3.
This is pretty big news and could lead to speculation as to which Final Fantasy XIII games are going where. The obvious rumors are going to be that FFXIII is heading to the Xbox 360 as well as the PlayStation 3.
This quote though could also mean that the series could be heading to the Nintendo DS handheld and or the Nintendo WII as well since Square Enix has been very impressed and pleased with the progression and installed user base of the Wii, with the DS already receiving the Final Fantasy treatment a few times.
Let the rumors begin. Either way though the fact that Final Fantasy XIII will not be a PS3-exclusive has to make any Sony fan cringe in their gaming chairs.

So yeah, if this is the real deal its certainly not something that I would have expected. Now some comments and thoughts that I have about this personally:
1. The Final Fantasy project consists of two games for the PS3? That is news to my as well, although I haven't been following the game too closely or anything. They probably mean a direct sequel to the game as Final Fantasy XII had with how that was worded but who knows.
2. Mobile game? That just seems strange.
3. That bold part is pretty important here.
4. I would also guess that if it does go multiplatform the 360 would be the other console to see the game. That really is the most obvious move considering the size and scale of the game.
5. Square Enix has been showing a lot of Nintendo support though so that isn't entirely out of the question. If Final Fantasy were seen on the DS or Wii it wouldn't be the same game though of course.
It goes without saying that if this is true it will be a huge deal fueled by disbelief, outrage, and joy by many people. Devil May Cry certainly was but that isn't as important to Sony as Final Fantasy by any means. Now then, what are your thoughts?
