All I want is some sort of meta rules that combine X-Wing miniatures with Amarda and an as yet unreleased third game that focuses on ground combat so I can organise a proper galactic campaign with friends
Imperial Assault for the ground combat?
Can you recreate the battle of Hoth in imperial assault?

it definitely has at-st's and I think an expansion is adding more hoth stuff, maybe including snowspeeders and tauntauns? at-ats are more of a problem, but you can make those a bit more abstract, I think

I first read the OP, as the following and got extremely excited!
THE WAR IS OVER
The last Imperial hold outs have been smashed in a critical battle on the planet of Jakku. The combined alliance fleet was able to break apart Imperial resistance, while our brave men and women on the ground drove back any and all counter attacks. Truly, this is a turning point in galactic history.
An alliance trooper leads an attack on a downed Imperial class Star Destroyer
With the Imperial military finally broken, peace can return to the galaxy. The time of the empire is over, now is the time of the new republic.
Chancellor Villecham has been elected as our first chancellor.
Our proud and noble chancellor
The senate has been re-established on Hosnian Prime, a clear sign of the New Republics commitment to move galactic power away from the core worlds and the old Imperial capital of Coruscant.
Even now, we look towards securing a long term peace with the last imperial systems. Strict treaties are in place to ensure that they can never again build up a military force that could threaten galactic stability.
The only thing that could possibly endanger us now is if they'd hidden away a third Death Star, but that'd be mad.

What is a Phalla?
Phalla is Penny Arcade's version of the popular party game, Mafia. Bandwagon has a great synopsis of the game in the thread bookmarked at the top of Critical Failures. But, you already knew that.
This version of Phalla is both a faction game and a battle game. There is a traditional village full of the uninformed majority (the rebels) whose goal is to eliminate all threats to the village, however the village itself is divided. Be careful where you place your trust, you are under the watch of the FIRST ORDER.
The General Rules
!Sign up in boldlimegreen. Reserves may also sign up by posting !Reserve. Clarifications may be asked in !bolddarkorange and will be collected in the second post.
The game is balanced around 50 players with the capacity to expand beyond that if needed. The game will begin with a Day 0 once sign ups either slow to a stop or we reach 70 players (HAH!), whichever comes first.
Standard phalla rules apply. This includes, but is not limited to, no copying/pasting, taking screenshots, taking pictures of and e-mailing or anything else of role PM’s. Anonymous communication with other players is forbidden. Anyone you communicate with must know exactly who you are. Speaking in code is also forbidden. One death post that contains no in-game information is allowed. Communication of any kind with dead players is forbidden. I must have access to any proboards created. You are encouraged, but not required, to add me to any PM conversations you have with other players, so I have a feel for how the game is playing out and the clarity of any explanations I give.
As a reminder, trust and truth are valuable commodities in phalla. If you wish to bring a new person into a conversation you are already participating in, you MUST begin a new conversation and cannot simply add them to the old one.
Once sign-ups are complete, the game will commence IN THIS THREAD.

Star Wars Miniatures Update:
Played Armada with my dad. Just the basic core set. I was the Victory Star Destroyer, he was the Frigate and Corvette with one X-wing and two Ties.
The game ended with the Frigate one point away from destruction but the Star Destroyer with two damage and no shields. All fighters were destroyed and the corvette lost only one shield so he won that on point values.
Opinions compared to X-Wing.
I think I like X-Wing more. Tomorrow we'll play a game with full X-Wing rules. We can't really play more Armada since I only have the starter ships, whereas I have a bunch more X-Wing miniatures.
Current X-Wing Model Count:
Four standard X-Wing (Two from two core sets, one from expansion, one is from the big Rebel Transport set)
Five standard TIE Fighters (Four from two core sets one from expansion)
Two First Order TIEs
One TIE Interceptor
One TIE Bomber
One T-70 X-Wing
One MOTHER FUCKING MOLDY CROW
One Big Rebel Transport (GR-75)
One Millennium Falcon
Hmm do I wanna activate this free Chapter 1 of Knights of the Fallen Empire
I don't know if I wanna make a new character or try to get one of my current ones there
So, I have to stop at Target after work for some boring household supplies and I decide to stop in the toy aisle because I'm an adult, and oh, what's this? A six-pack of TFA action figures? Featuring all the main characters, such as Finn, and Poe, and Kylo Ren, and ...Chewbacca. And ...two different generic First Order dudes.
The one good thing about the leads of the movie being a woman and a black guy means that the industry at least has to pick which one to marginalize. They can't afford to not make toys of either of them. But boy, you'd sure think Poe gets more than 10 minutes of screentime in the movie, given how much merch there is of him.
At least Rey is one of the two figures you get in the Infinity playset, but yeah.
Granted, things were pretty sparse in general, being right after Christmas and all, but I couldn't find a single piece of Rey merch in the toy section (which was really the only thing I was looking for). Even the two Lego sets she's in weren't there.

I think they've said they were holding some Rey merch back because it had mild spoilers for the movie, and there were reports coming out in like, November that stores were having trouble keeping her merch in stock. So I think it's out there, but they either didn't make enough, demand is super high, or, more likely, a combination of the two.

Hmm
I could run a simple Star Wars phalla if I found a decent block of time in the new year...

Yeah, my most optimistic read is just that she's in high demand because the kids like her the most. And I could see how they'd want to hold back on toys that give away plot stuff, but there's no reason to not have a fairly generic figure like all the other ones in that six pack. I can't think of a reason to have Chewbacca in there over the Luke Skywalker of this movie other than the classic "no one wants toys of girls" shit.
There were enough shots of her doing the rounds where she was firing that blaster, or they could've given her the staff she had at the start of the film.

Rey did get a generic 6 pack figure. There're a lot of different multi packs flying around.
I feel that Star Wars merch is so utterly vast in quantity and diversity that trying to get a read on things through a single set wouldn't yield any significant information. There are dozens of different figure sets for instance, so it'd be more valuable to look at different characters representation across the entire range (though I admit that's not data we have access to).

True...some toys companies also make some really, really shitty sculpts of females to and you start to wonder if it's an effort thing.

You really don't see why I'd take issue with a pack containing all of the principle characters except arguably the most significant one who just happens to be the only one who's female? Why wouldn't she be there? Why would Chewbacca, basically a cameo character be there instead?
Especially why is Chewie there and neither of the characters from the movie he associates himself with, Han or Rey, be there?

Hmm... Inquisitor?
Do the Sith Warrior then make all lightside choices. Watch everyone be super confused.
I actually play mine as a dumb guy who got on the wrong shuttle to go to Jedi School and thinks he's been getting Jedi training so he has non evil looking armor and a blue lightsaber.

Well, is it feasible that they maybe want to spread the popular characters around to get people to buy multiple packs? If you put everyone in one pack, then that's all you sell. Stick a couple in one, some in another, and you get kids asking for both.

The fact that Chewie is there over Han really does suggest that "importance in film" wasn't a factor that was really considered.
The Disney Store front page has Rey at front and centre, which I think is a better indication of where they see Rey in their overall merchandise strategy.
