    I was lucky enough to see Alan Rickman perform on-stage twice. If you thought he was a good movie actor, you should see him in theatre. He was phenomenal.

    Me and my family and a good deal of my friends have been involved in theatre for a long time, and we are all devastated. He was one of the few performers of this generation who, despite being pretty much universally adored are still underrated.

    From all accounts I've heard, he was also a wonderful human being.

    I'm very upset that I won't get to see him in a new role ever again.

    It's understandable that most of the references I've seen on Facebook today have been from Harry Potter and Die Hard.

    But, by Grabthar's hammer, it has warmed my heart to see just how many there were also for Galaxy Quest. And a few for Prince of Thieves and Dogma.

    He left us a wealth of iconic roles. Many great actors would be proud to have just one of them in their resumé, but Alan Rickman had a lengthy list of them.
