I'm an army reservist in Canada and I was just curious to see how many people on here were also in the military regardless of country. I'm an armoured recce crewman in the Ontario Regiment (RCAC) with the rank of Trooper.

t Inidiewinter is there a way around the forced service in Israel or what
yeah you can be released if your military profile is low enough, either because of health problems or psychological problems. Most people who are released want to join up anyway as volunteers though, as there's a negative stigma against people who have not served their mandatory three years.

what about for university?
If you're really bright the army's gonna fund it for you and allow you to study there while you serve, otherwise you go there after you've been discharged.
I'm in the U.S. Coast Guard but then again i think we're not very mlitary.
When I was a kid I dreamed of being in the Coast Guard.
All stopping drug lords everyday and saving beautiful Cuban women lost in deadly storms.
How realistic are these scenarios?
Well on my first patrol we stopped some cocaine runners off of the coast of south america but it was shitty expierence overall with moving 250 cocaine bails all over the ship three times and engines and toilets breaking down (I was in the engineering group).
My next patrol was to south east asia with places like Singapore and Thailand and Brunei etc. Yeah I became a dirty sailor out there ;-).
Now I'am training to be a Coast Guard IT but mostly train with old phone technology and will be doing SysAdmin next month.
