[Baldur's Gate] Late to the party, looking for help and advice.

Hi folks

I just started playing Baldur's Gate 1 for the very first time (regular ol' vanilla edition; got it from a friend), and I'm looking for (detailed, please) help and advice.

My biggest thing right now... my monitor is 1680 x 1050 widescreen, and the game looks terrible at that resolution. Furthermore, at that size, everything is hyper-pixilated. I get the impression that the game was lovely when it was released, but at that kind of resolution it gives me a bit of eyestrain.

Are there any mods that help with that sort of thing? If so, where are they, and are there detailed instructions for someone who is a bit dense to install 'em?

I think this is the widescreen mod that everyone uses for Baldur's Gate:

It's generally followed up with the widescreen GUI mod:

Installation is fairly straightforward. Make sure you install patches, expansions and other mods first, then widescreen, then GUI. If you use GUI, make sure you stick to the supported resolutions (widescreen supports other resolutions that will break GUI).
