My PC has stopped detecting my iPod

I noticed this on Friday. I'd added a new MP3 to my iPod ("54 Dave Gormans" by Misty's Big Adventure, for those few of you who are curious) and unplugged my iPod. I then spent 45 minutes making a faux CD cover for said MP3, because I'm weird like that, and connected my iPod once again to add the cover to the song.

My PC didn't detect my iPod. Nothing. It was charging, so the cable clearly works, but Windows and iTunes don't acknowledge that it's been connected. At the time I thought, "Oh well, it's probably a one-off thing, I'll try again another time."

I've tried it again tonight, and it's still not detecting the iPod. Again, it charges, but Windows isn't picking it up - not even as a USB flash drive - and iTunes ignores it. Is this a software/driver issue, or is it something more sinister?

Try resetting your ipod. Toggle the hold switch on and off, then hold menu and the centre button for a few seconds.

    Try another USB port?

This happens to me once in a while. Restart, keep trying, it should come back eventually.

I had to change the drive letter for mine to get detected. Resetting it did fuck all.
