I think I'm going to try my best to avoid working today and spend all day reading guides. Besides the ones at BDFoundry anyone have any really good ones they found?
This has been my day today. I've been at "work" for 6-1/2 hours and my total productivity has been that I answered one phone call, and signed seven documents (that were previously prepared earlier in the week). Oh, and I've also watched about 25 gameplay videos, made three pages of notes and printed out an equipment progression guide. )
Stupid Boss jumped into an interview I was doing and turned a 30 minute meeting into a 3 hour meeting. Totally wrecked my plans, but I'm home now and will blindly trip my way around BDO for the evening!
1: is there a way to change the size/shape/colour of the crosshairs?
2: can I make quest mobs show as a different colour on the minimap?
Not sure on number 1, but quests mobs are already orange on the map if you have that quest set as your active.
Also man I feel like a dunce, only just realised I can set a worker to work a node multiple times on repeat.
Go Olivia farming ash and vailia processing my rough stone into black powder. Just a few more contribution points and I can connect Hadia and start moving ash boxes there.
Given their inability to accept money from me, I'd like a guest pass just to make sure everything else works properly. My confidence has been shaken a bit. Assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated!
I kind of wish MMOs had demos or free periods or things of that nature. The game looks decent, but I really have no idea if i'd like the combat at all. I was able to try out the character creator when they had that standalone thing available, but that's about it.
Are there any other games that it feels similar to? The fighting game mention in the OP doesn't exactly fill me with confidence since I suck at those.

This guy has some pretty good overviews of the classes, you can get a good idea of how the combat works from these videos.
I guess the fighting game comparisons come from the key combinations for abilities, and some minor combo/timing elements. Abilities have different effects based on the direction you're pressing, or using abilities in a certain order with certain timing, stuff like that. If you have trouble with certain combinations, you can also assign abilities to a standard MMO hotbar.
@Aistan Have you ever played Vindictus? Sorta like that.
Also! So long as work doesn't jump up and bite me in the ass today I'm gonna get us going with a gathering missions or two. Anyone who has around an apprentice level gathering(some of the stuff you can't gather without it) say your peace here. I'll probably pull us into TS3 if only for quick communication. Depending on how many people we have interested, we may be able to squeeze in a third mission.
Looking at those videos it's a shame that Plum isn't in the game yet since that doesn't look too bad. Sorceress seems ok, and Valkyrie wasn't as bad as I was thinking. It all seems kind of complicated though.
So far the most complicated thing I've needed to do is whatever movement key+RMB & LMB. Otherwise it's like S+F or Shift+Q. The most claw handy thing is a Warrior move atm where I gotta hit Shift+Space but I rarely need it.
The only ones I have problems with sometimes are RMB+LMB skills, some of them I plop on my skill bar.

Sorceress is probably one of the most complicated classes in the game (if not the). I absolutely love mine, but she's got a lot going on that I have to keep track of at any given point.

Yeah I suppose I could go with Valkyrie, looking more. Wish I could do Warrior or Berserker, but they have that garbage-ass gender lock thing for some reason.
Has it mostly been stable? Watching the Giant Bomb quick look it seemed like there were some bugs that people were having to deal with.
So, I've been playing this game quite a bit over the last couple of days. The first day it felt like a weak Eastern DIKU-MUD MMO. Then I found the button that turns on the non-combat quests and OMG it's a whole new game!
After a solid 8 hour session learning about nodes, trading, crafting, cooking and other assorted sub-systems, I'm absolutely going to buy in.
I'll be looking for a Guild invite later tonight. (I'm out for a few hours right now and not online.) I've got the message about server/channel, and hopefully I'll have a non-trial account so in-game whispers should work.
I'm probably going to be handing off my 'friend' key to my wife and try to get her playing too.
Alright, I think i've looked at enough stuff to think I can give this a fair shot. Does anyone have one of those trials they'd be willing to help out with?
Oh by the way, I'm an apprentice gatherer, too. Pretty much all of my sub-skills are Beginner7 or higher. I should be making full sets of the first tier armor later tonight. I'm not sure if I can do Green with a level one crafting station yet, but I'm hopeful.
I'm heading to the Velia docks to join up with someone, just so I can ask questions on how to do simple stuff, like invest in a node, or start mining/blacksmithing =/
Yeah most of that just completely goes over my head. I tried node investing, but every time it said I needed to go to the previous node, until I couldn't find a previous node and I just gave up.
I've done some gathering (mostly skinning animals and chopping trees), but all that did was fill up my inventory so I couldn't complete quests.
Well I tried finding a node, but each one I went to sent me to another. I'm probably misunderstanding what I'm supposed to do.
Anyhow, does it matter what character joins the guild? As in, is it account-wide? I'd like to get in but don't want to run my main back to Velia (though I will if necessary).

@Arthil
Could still use an invite as well. Shrike is the family name. Heading to the velia docks now.
Edit- hanging out on the roof of the docks building.
Shh, just go back to sleep.

@bobAkirafett Gonna need a name to look for.
