Shuttles in the past...?

mayapplemayapple TennesseeRegistered User regular
I've been hunting for more info. I have never used the shuttle system. Always stayed at the Westin, but we didnt grab them in time this year. How does the shuttle system work? Will every hotel in the pax list get a shuttle? Can someone give me a run down of what they did last year?

Thanks in advance!

I've always had good luck getting shuttles from my random hotels. I've never tried going back to one in a shortie tho as I'm usually out way past their last one. Uber and .. That other one, LYFT, Lfyt.. I remembered it', are very helpful.

Honestly tho you're best bet is to call the hotel you're considering and ask if they will have a shuttle in the mornings.

The shuttle system is awesome! I always stay at one of the outer hotels because of costs. The shuttle system has a set schedule (runs during certain hours). At the convention, the shuttles line up along one side of the building, and are clearly marked with a number. You will know which number you need for your hotel. They drivers have always been really friendly, and you just need your pax badge to get on, and its free. You can ride the shuttle from the convention to your hotel, or from your hotel to the convention during their hours of operation. They generally run every 20-30 minutes, which isn't too bad. I never felt myself waiting too long. My only gripe is that on Sunday the schedule is always kind of weird. They stop running during the time I would like to leave, and then pick up again when its too late, so I end up having to leave the convention sooner than Id like, but it is what it is.

Also, last year I was really late arriving at my hotel on Friday morning because the T had a delay. The last shuttle was leaving my hotel at 11am until they pick up again in the afternoon. We got to the hotel at 11am on the dot and the driver was about to leave!! I told him we just needed to check our bags at the hotel and he waited for us. Me and my bf were the only ones on the shuttle at that time so he didnt mind hanging around an extra 10 minutes. It was a really great experience, so dont fret if you have to use the shuttles :)

I will say that when I stayed at the Doubletree in China town, the shuttle was often way, way overfull or very late depending on the time of day (more full in the early AM). I tended to use the subway just for convenience. I adore the Boston subway (try the Chicago L some time. Ick.)

Shuttle to the con in the morning are okay. Usually slow because of traffic and a little bit late but nothing horrible. I would prefer public transit (silver line) or walking from South Station in the morning.

Out of the con center back to hotel or downtown it is good. It is relative quick without traffic on road and runs on time and we are not usually hurry or running late.

Also I cannot find a doubletree in backbay, did you mean bayside? For bayside you can easily take the red line in south station and either walk or take the silver line into con center. Or you get off at Broadway and have breakfast at one of the diners nearby or a donut at Doughboy and walk about 20 minutes to con in the morning.

Does anyone know if the shuttles stop at any of the MTBA subway stops? South station or the like?

The shuttles only stop at partnered hotel

I meant this one. It's very close to the T stop, so it ended up being more convenient to go there than to the shuttle stop behind the hotel. It's also walkable :P

But they will go near or to every sponsored hotel? That's really what I am asking.

    And yes I meant bayside.

Good experience with the shuttles on my end as well. It can be fun to be able to meet some other people as well!

Where are you staying? They will list out the hotels they go to, and if I remember correctly it's not every hotel (nearly all of them though). And the hotels that are close (Seaport, Reinassance, Aloft, Element) obivously don't have shuttles. Some of the hotels are so close together and you can jump on as long as you have the pax badge!

They haven't gone to Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel, if only because it is so close, but the others yes. Also obviously it won't go to the Westin as it is literally connected. Doubtful the Aloft or Element will get a bus as they're closer than the Renaissance.

In my experience, the danger is being at the end of a route. In the morning I'd watch 2-3 of my bus route labelled busses pass my hotel in this 2013 and 2014. Each was full at earlier stops. We realized that every bus was going to fill before it got to our hotel. We walked.
