Possible issues with new router (Archer C9)?

A couple weeks back my Asus RT-N16 died so I replaced it with a Archer C9. Speedtests are better than with the RT-N16 so I'm mostly happy. I say mostly because when gaming (CSGO, Dota), on occasion I will get little "hitches" of lag. Now, I'm not sure if this is the router or my computer having a problem. My in-game pings don't change and I haven't seen a change in framerate.
Does anyone have some suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? I've thought about running a ping -t to google.com while gaming to see if I get any dropped packets when I experience the hitch.
