So how many people are staying up as late as possible to get as much done as possible?
I'm really trying my best not to be competitive with people here on the forums and min/max the game itself. It is really hard to get in the mindset of just play and relax.
I have no interest in min-maxing my farm. I grow one field (8 crops with a sprinkler in the middle) of each type of crop and I'll have one of each tree and a couple bee boxes and I'll be content. My goal is to cover the whole farm with grass and place roads where I need to walk.

in-game? Nah, I'll easily get to bed by like 7 or 8 if there's nothing else i feel like doing on a given day.
I remember not liking Harvest Moon's winters very much, it felt like "ugh just let me get back to spring" but in Stardew Valley, I love it because it gives me a chance to expand my farm and such.
I think it helps there's so much more you can do in the winter here

I am pushing my farm pretty hard so I end up staying up late frequently. Sometimes I'll also just munch on some forage to keep the energy up and do some night fishing.
But then I have 120 squares under crops right now.
Mostly I only end up staying up late ingame if I have a bunch of energy left over that I don't want to waste. Chopping trees usually takes care of that. If i've burnt everything in the mines or fishing i'll go to bed around 9-10 usually.
I'm up late in the mines quite often. Just got to level 100 and the red slimes have been hitting quite hard. Level 100 has a stardrop though, very nice. I just got 2 others, one from the fall fair and one from the woods. All together that's another 100 points of energy per day.
I'm near the end of Fall. I've got 4 chickens and 4 cows, but no house upgrades. I'm really close on basically every part of the community center, but each room has 1-2 things left out of season. The wagon lady is very helpful for that stuff, btw. She comes Friday as well as Sunday.
Haven't made much progress friending people. Only 1 person at 3 hearts, everyone else is 0-2. Everyone seems to like blackberries though, and they're very plentiful in Fall.
Everything feels really close to coming together though.
I haven't been to Joja since the start of the game when I wandered in as I was looking around everywhere. I mean yeah they sell some seeds for cheaper but they're way the hell over there and there's no way i'm walking that distance each time.
I'm in summer, year 2. 8 iridium sprinklers, and something like ~250 squares of crops. I just now realized that you don't have to click each individual crop to harvest it - you can just hold down the button and walk around.
Wish I'd figured that out waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay earlier.

I got a message telling me to come to the general store to buy a backpack and I went there and it was Wednesday so they were closed so now I think I'm just going to let Joja Corp run this town
Okay what do I do with stuff like clam shells? Also why does this one have a star next to it
There are some items with a silver star or a gold star, and they're just higher quality versions of that item. You can save the clam shells to turn into something later, or you can just sell 'em. I'd keep basically 1 of everything you find though.

Of note: gold crops/forage/fishes don't turn into higher quality finished goods when you finish them into artisan goods or meals, so selling your gold items is usually a good bet. However, there are challenges that require you have a few high-quality crops, so reserve some of your really good stuff just in case. (Clams are not crops though, probably sell it. You'll have a hundred more by the time you can cook them.)
I don't sell crops any more though. Everything goes into kegs and pickling tubs and delicious meals that give you skill bonuses.
I'm making about 5 grand a week on my Pale Ale alone, and I can make cranberry wine till the cows come home (literally. it's how I intend to finance my animal husbandry)
The... First level of the foraging skill will give you a crafting recipe for a bar that will do a decent job of restoring your health/energy. It's just like a pinecone, maple seed, and acorn.
so this ring you get from the Adventure's guild for killing a certain amount of monsters is really good
It gives a small speed boost after each kill, but if you stack kills, like against little spirit monsters in the ice section, you stay faster even when it ticks off, it lasts until you sleep
probably not intended, but still useful for zipping around for a day

She runs Hulk farm.
She's a green skinned lady.
And her favorite thing is "Smashing".
I'm only in the beginning of summer, this game is going to destroy me
I just bought the soundtrack too, cause it's so fucking good

Also, I died twice in the mines yesterday. Blah. The most annoying part was losing my quartz, though, since I need that for sprinklers.

Also: I run out of energy really fast
Also also: there are still like 8 townspeople who are somehow hiding from me
probably not intended, but still useful for zipping around for a day
