Farm Report: 15th of Winter, Year 1.
Days have been quiet. With no crops to manage, I find I have a lot of free time. I only have enough hay for the four chickens, so I've been stockpiling eggs.
I've been using the large amounts of spare time to upgrade my pickaxe and woodaxe, Clint took his time but I finally have some fancy golden tools. Immediately chopped down some hardwood, and then cracked open a metorite that had been sitting on my lawn for several weeks.
Also made a breakthrough with some goods. Finally got some pine resin from a tapper I had set out weeks ago, and that with the mushrooms, along with my diligent winter foraging, has finally allowed me to complete the crafting room in the community centre - town bridges are being repaired!
Unfortunately, still a virgin. Like I am not being fucked, at all. Nobody is even trying. I gave Sebastian a lake trout and he looked right through me, didn't even try to slip me some tongue. Don't think my heart can take much more of this.
Yeah I never caught a sturgeon, was lucky enough to buy one off the magical cart lady. Right now I only have like 5 items left to get before I finish the community centre entirely, I just don't know how I'm gonna get some of them.
He made them look really weird with this last patch!
Mine landed the second week of spring and has been mocking me the entire time.
Mine landed first day of fall. Not sure where it is, but there's branches and rocks all over my front yard. Fortunately, I think it only took out 1 corn plant. Anything else that died was summer stuff.
Me and Linus are bros. He's the first villager to send me something nice in mail just for being cool.
Granted it was a catfish, in summer, so my mailbox is pretty ripe now but, I can't be too picky accepting gifts from a guy in his situation.
Also, speaking of Linus, does anyone else hear him as Sam Elliot in their heads?
Whenever he stands by the river talking about summer, or how the mountain was good to him, I just think cowboy poet.
Last night I planted an apple sapling in preparation for fall. The day after, I did a whole bunch of garden and stuff, loitered around town, then went back to the farm. Just before going to bed, I thought "Oh hey, I didn't water the tree. Do I need to water the tree? Better go do it just to be sure." So I went out and clicked on it. Oops had the axe equipped. There goes the sapling. Had to reload and do the whole day over again.
Planting that Rare seed from the gypsy lady was really worth it
You need a Steel Axe to gain access to an area in the west part of the forest, some statue wants the sweetest thing, which is that fruit from the Rare seed, and you get a starfruit
I mean I'm 25 hours deep and halfway through winter! A friend of mine who plays has a fucking WILD farm, I'll link it if she decides to make it on there after I linked her a bit ago. I'm basically just selling the raw crops but I also want to start making preserves and wines and shit soon.
Do you gain anything from fences and rocks besides aesthetics? I know they keep your chickens in, but other than that, nothing.
edit, is there even a reason to keep your chickens in? Can you just let livestock roam free?
I'm spending this first year slowly clearing space on my farm, growing a decent amount of crops, basically enough to afford some tool upgrades (and I got the backpack upgrade too) while also working through the mines and getting better metals to afford said upgrades
then in year two I'm stepping up my game, probably getting some animals and dipping my toe into artisan goods
year three I'll hopefully have a nice enough farm that won't require me to maintain too heavily if I can manage to get my sprinkler setup done
then maybe I'll worry about seducing all the ladies of the town
Once I'm able to get good sprinklers I'm really gonna expand my farm
I mean the big issue right now is just the sheer amount of time it takes to water in the morning, which is why my operation's remained small for the most part

Yeah, that's why I don't plant anything unless I can get sprinklers on the area. It's just such a hassle once you have the option to do otherwise!

I'm so close! I wish I had saved some of those earth crystals I found earlier!
I've been hoarding so much shit because of things like this.
that is a complete misuse of the postal system
That catfish is a giant pain in the ass to nab, so he really did you a solid

Mine is nothing like that
I think I'm gonna get started on a real-ass farm layout after Winter, when I can just basically start from scratch
also I gotta finish clearing my field too
This. I had a fence but it fell apart and I was like FUCK IT

All my makers (furnace, keg, pickler, etc.) are all in a line, as are my two-dozen lighting rods.
Walking out in the morning and seeing item icons stretching out to the horizon in a line is deeeeeeeeply satisfying.
I've got a full silo so I'll be ready for that and plants, I've got a bunch of sprinklers and enough materials to make plenty more
I mean the big issue right now is just the sheer amount of time it takes to water in the morning, which is why my operation's remained small for the most part
okay i guess this is my friend's, it's way more messy than I thought it would be!
