life's a game that you're bound to lose / like using a hammer to pound in screws
fuck up once and you break your thumb / if you're happy at all then you're god damn dumb
that's right we're on a fucked up cruise / God is dead but at least we have booze
bad things happen, no one knows why / the sun burns out and everyone dies

Oh man, En Passant pisses off people so much. In casual pickup chess games I have done that and had people argue that I can't do it because it's not a "normal rule" or some nonsense. Yes it is! It totally is!
People do not like losing or suffering a blow because of lack of rules knowledge. Because it sucks. It's almost worth mentioning at the start of a game so they know.
En Passant : chess :: "Damage on the stack" : Magic the Gathering
Fucking mana burn.
i started playing hearthstone and my favorite thing to do is to make people lose by running out of cards.
it's like they thought they were playing one game and I was playing another the entire time.
it became less and less effective i think as the series went on. but it was called witching in the earlier games because left for dead was popular then and the witch ran out you really fast and killed you in one hit. the amount of mean messages I received for "not playing the game right" was hilarious.

It's super accessible because any which way you choose a bracket is valid. Office pool winners often never even heard of the teams before.
doesn't her dorm literally have communal pancake mix?

Parasite Eve?

Fuck Joe Manchin
A man has to prove himself every day of his life.
*puts down The Old Man and the Sea and builds a deck*
Himmler. You were saying he had some good ideas
I know it's a little bit of a stretch, but System Shock.
jecht shot
That doesn't sound like me at all, but you've always been trustworthy about these sorts of things, so I guess I'm into Himmler now.
each blocky monster a nightmare in low poly
Shadow Hearts?
Ok, yeah.
So The secret world, Vanpire the masquerade and parasite eve series. Cool.
Horror is definitely not a genre, it's a theme. Any genre of game can be horror themed

It is my second favorite time of year, after Christmas.
first selection: Mars: War Logs
holy shit
i couldn't get past the intro cut scene
wtf is this game the dialog in the intro cut scene included like four minutes of a dude just staring at another dude
someone posted this a couple days ago already but
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9qJ9cm0HQw
You then went on a two page rant on how Hellboy was ungrateful for what the nazis did for him and decried the biased nature of Wolfenstein
Well I get that :P
But I mean, many America-specific sports leagues are still popular discussion topics up here
Or, like, the World Cup, which Canada is never in
Not as much interest in college basketball, I suppose
Spider software or whoever they are are... A unique bunch, from what I hear.

the amount of text you have to read is pretty terrifying
How so? I have yet to play it, but it seems pretty horror-themed to me, at a glance.

Hm, that's more of a game with a strong horror element rather than a horror game outright, which broadens things a bit.
this is my brother's living room right now

Perhaps the only video game which is almost better as a book.
I mean, yeah.
After all, Hellboy is red.
Like a communist.
And you never hear about the wives and children of all the Nazis you gun down in Wolfenstein.
It had the whole fatality thing down and clunky panic inducing controls sealed the deal.
We all know this feeling
What's a pure horror game, tho?
Like, FPS is a genre, there's pure FPSes, but are there pure horror games?
I don't think it's possible to make a horror game without merging it with a real genre.

Lesson one: Go
Where does your brother live?
I am moving in with him ASAP.
I also disagree with your assertion that Horror is a theme rather than a genre.
Vampires and werewolves and stuff don't automatically make something a horror game. A horror game is designed to be scary. VtMB wasn't, really.
i'm sure his wife would be cool with it
she's p chill
I didn't know VTMB wasn't scary, I assumed it was since I assumed it explored themes of losing one's humanity and all that.
