Late Act 7, ending stuff
I feel like everything post retcon was really forced and rushed. Doubly so everything post-vriska explains her plan. Everyone just neatly tied up their problems, or at least made pretty good strides towards doing so, over the course of a week of updates.
Retcon-Vriska feels like a Mary Sue. All her plans work perfectly, the only person who disagrees with her, Karkat, she makes look like an idiot, and then they are shown to be completely ineffectual later. People dump their significant others to be with her. She defeats the villain single handedly. She gets exactly what she wants, with zero problems, and every other character is shown to be hopeless without her.
Super Calliope is almost as bad. They both feel like characters created just to push this thing to the end as fast as possible.
Also like 90% of the main cast never even meet the main antagonist. I know, bluh bluh Homestuck fucks with narrative conciets, but sometimes narratives are that way for a reason. A story where the protagonist never meets the antagonist can work. A 7 year long webcomic with more words than basically any novel isn't it.
Wait did people actually expect the ending to tie everything up?
I've grown to love Homestuck for the gargantuan mess that it is.
All I wanted out of the ending was a fun resolution for the main cast and to see the bad guy get taken down. I'm pretty happy with what we got.
I was kinda expecting something like [ S] Cascade, which took many things from Acts 1-5, wrapped them up, and set the stage for Act 6.
Yeah but I didn't understand half of what happened in Cascade and needed people to explain it to me.
I'm happy to get an ending that's actually pretty comprehensible.

I still remember how long it took to take out one of the demon mobster boss' life bars.
Then he had the life bars explode into the ground and everyone panicked
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
i know the fandom is doing this a lot, but you don't have to tie yourself in knots to justify the ending. It can just...be a disappointment. Don't let a bad ending affect your mental mood.
Because, in the end, we still have smuppets and that's all that really matters.
Similarly, it's okay to like the ending.
And it's also okay to come around on something you used to not like after stewing on it
It's still not my ideal ending but I'm more okay with it now that I've refreshed myself more on A6A6
Though I still do stand by my statement that the story would've been better served by having more moments of dialogue punctuated by cool animation for the ending instead of just a big wordless animation
I like the idea of what the ending is supposed to represent as explained by you
But the execution of it is complete and utter garbage
and that's a totally reasonable reaction to have
after letting it percolate for a month i think the execution is alright, but i 100% agree that it could/should have been better
you shouldn't have to be sherlock god damn holmes to figure out how the story ended. again, infinite jest this ain't
I kept looking for it but I could have easily missed it
act5+ probably
for a little while I thought maybe the joke of the claymation bit would be everybody had changed clothes and cali couldn't tell the difference, so that the people he was trapping were not the people he thought he was trapping
I'm not sure exactly what that would have accomplished? but
at least the vriska and smashing eightballs thing kinda came out. that was one of my pet plot threads
I would be really surprised if the game had information that was critical to the plot of Homestuck. I think everyone involved realizes what a shitty move that would be.
On the other hand, it seems like Roxy at least makes a cameo in Hiveswap, so who knows what's going on with that thing.

Not everything, just some things!
People expected a Problem Sleuth like ending. Big, complicated and fun.
[ s] ACT 7: "nevermind, you were, game over"

I didn't expect it to resolve everything. But expected it to be enjoyable and cathartic and in any way satisfying. Instead of a big anime nothing.
HOW CAN YOu ESCAPE THE NARRATIVE WHEN IT WAS INSIDE YOu ALL ALONG?

well we've still got an epilogue and a video game to go not to mention the projects in this very thread
we're still in
we're all still in
If the vidoe game has important information about the end of the comic in it, I'm going to be pretty cross.
Charging people money to explain your messy ending is a bad look.
That would also be really out-of-place, given that it's a complete side-story that allegedly doesn't tie into the main plot.
so it will probably be a lot less disconnected than it seems
On the other hand, it seems like Roxy at least makes a cameo in Hiveswap, so who knows what's going on with that thing.
But they probably won't be fighting Lord English or anything
I guess I should visit the hiveswap website every so often

That's what I saaaaaaiiiiiiiiid
thats homestuck
I agree. It's just been a pretty wide spread speculation since the comic wrapped up and on the off chance people are right that would suck.

I imagine all his conversations with him maintaining his bland IDGAF look the whole time, at least at that point in the story.
Also, I forgot how awesome the conversations between him and Rose are. They feel genuinely like

it's like getting to an area in dark souls and seeing bloodstains all over the ground like "hmm maybe this is a bad scene"
Anything that well guarded has to have important treasure though.
That's literally how treasure hunting works.
It's just like my japanese animes!
Now we just need to put it in all our signatures so that everyone understands your positions regarding treasure.
