The Republican Primary Continues to Happen

Talk about the Republican primary. Do not talk about the not-Republican primary. Don't be dicks.

Taken from the prior OP, it's a good starting point.

Trump is currently claiming Senator Cruz has stolen most of Arizona's delegates on Saturday.

is this another one of those second round of the caucus things?

or did Cruz actually steal delegates?

I literally don't know at this point.

If someone said Cruz rode in on an elephant and that nets him a baker's dozen votes in the seventh inning stretch so long as there's a fair day's wind I'd just nod my head and agree.

Apparently Cruz has placed people loyal to him in the majority of the delegate slot for a couple states where Trump won handily.

So IF it goes to a second ballot at the convention they've promised to flip to Cruz.

Tedcruz Forpresident currently trails in Indiana by 15~ points, so honestly whether or not our incubated from birth overlord 'steals' those Arizona delegates is pretty immaterial. Indiana will break the back of any hopes for a contested convention.

Pity; I really wanted Kasich to win literally just for showing-up and eating food.

So Clinton got Trump to run, and then Trump kept Kasich in to spoil Cruz? Three dimensional chess going on in this election.

I mean Kasich has less delegates than Rubio, only won his home state and seems to just keep the not trumps from voting Cruz. If he's not helping Trump than he's dumber than his views on women and reproductive rights.

"We can't continue to allow China to rape our country, and that's what they're doing,"
    ...
"I mean, China's great. No problem. I'm not angry with China," he continued. "And I'm not angry at Japan. And I'm not angry at Mexico. I'm not angry at anybody," Trump said, according to Politico. "I'm angry at our leaders, because they are grossly incompetent and they shouldn't have ever been elected to do this job. Terrible."

Not only is China raping the US, but it's not China's fault. The US led it on.

Redstate refers to it as Ted Cruz's "incredible ground game" in that he is trying to get the delegates on his side, so that "when the second vote happens" they get a lot of defection, and they have Cruz pegged to win on the 4th or 5th re-vote. The delegates are also able to make changes to the rules, and having a higher amount of delegates makes it harder for Kasich to get in because they can make it difficult to vote on a rule change.

If Cruz doesn't drop out before the convention, then his first order of business at the convention will be to change the rules so all delegates are unbound on the first vote.

    After that? Chaos.

Sounds exactly like what I thought it was. I have a hard time getting outraged by Trump University. If there ever was a caveat emptor situation, that was it. In an aside, I actually know someone who got rich buying real estate with no money down. YMMV.

That would be interesting, but I honestly don't think that's going to happen. That would upend everything, not to mention they would be mired in lawsuits and potential riots. As well as the donors sitting on their check books, and the last one is why it will be business as usual. Donors do not want problems and uncertainty among the party, especially if it violates various state laws. Do state laws TRUMP party rules? Grey Area. Does the GOP want everyone looking at everything with a magnifying glass to support someone who is probably going to lose? probably not.

Are we going to see GOP super delegates next election? It becomes more likely every day.

Political parties, even national ones, are semi-private organizations, not actual government bodies, so it depends on whether it's the state party's bylaws that says they have to vote for X, or the state law that says so. If it's the former it's probably a lawsuit for the delegates who change their vote, if it's the latter then those delegates would be breaking the law, because state law sure fuck would trump what a party wants to do.

Perhaps I worship at the alter of 538 too much, but right now they have Trump at 97% of their target delegate count. His target for Indiana is 51 out of 57 delegates. So basically, he was always going to so well there it's unlikely he could gain any of that 3% there.

This isn't going to be decided until the last polls have closed in NJ and Cali.

Such pathetical temper tantrums only make Trump go up on the polls, of course. Honestly, they haven't learned anything so far? What I'm saying, of course they haven't.

I love how much Will argues that Trump is the problem with the party and not, you know, how 40% or better of the party supports him.

How do people like Will continue to be taken seriously? This whole article is the work of an effete submoron far-detached from any form of reality even within his own political camp.

There's a healthy dose of "fuck primary voters, the PARTY decides" in there, too.
